Explore the often troubled history of Berlin on a free walking tour, and see sites from the days of the Third Reich, the split between East and West, and the Reunification and hopes for the future.

The free tour is the perfect way to familiarize yourself with the German capital, and takes in monuments such as the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, and Checkpoint Charlie. Along the way, you will learn the story of Berlin, and discover what it’s like to live there today.

Learn about Berlin’s humble beginnings as a small fishing village, to the strength of the Prussian Empire, through the dark Nazi era, and freedom from Soviet Rule. Pay your respects at the Holocaust Memorial, and see the site of the infamous Nazi book burnings.

You will discover where the Luftwaffe HQ was located, and hear stories about how Checkpoint Charlie became the symbol of the Cold War. Walk down the beautiful Unter Den Linden boulevard to the Humboldt University, and much more.

The exact route of each tour varies depending on your guide and weather conditions, but all explore the historic Mitte district, the first and most central borough of Berlin.

Very worthwhile
Every time I have the opportunity to do a Walking Tour I do and I recommend it to everybody. It is amazing how much you can learn and see doing a walking tour and I have absolutely no problem with walking long distances for a long time, to be fair I think it is the best way to see and enjoy everything. Berlin is stunning and all its History makes it even better. The guide was fantastic and very friendly.

Unusual to have an American guide
Tour started on time .The guide was an American and was very informative I suspect with a different angle not being a native . His use of an iPad was really good with some great pictures . Tour lasted3.5 hours with a 20 min break .Made the rest of our stay really good as we had the bearings of the city . So my advice would book it for your first day

Our guide Daniele was excellent. He was very informative on Berlin and it's history, this was our 5 th time in Berlin but this was our first guided walking tour and we learned so much. It took around 3 hours but didn't feel like that long at all. Loved it.

Beginner guide in an amazing city
Our guide - Alexandra - was focused to check the touristic spots on her agenda. She walked between 2 points, without saying anything about the other buildings like opera, goverment building, etc. From the amazing history of Berlin, she selected non important info and it was hard to follow her words as she did not have any microphone for such a big group. Moreover, she was starting to talk about something without having all the group together. As a guide, you need to put some personal touch in your words and also to wait some seconds for people to reach you. Alexandra, tourists know that this tours have to be payed. You do not need to tell us how much we have to give you or that you split the money with your boss.
