This was the WORST tour I have ever been in my life. I don't even know where to start about how bad this tour was. 1. Our guide, Jacky or Li Jing Zhi, was always in a rush. He promised us 2.5 hours at the forbidden city and in actuality we only spent only 1 hour. He took us around the palace as to avoid the crowd but made us miss all the major attractions. He would also talk so fast that it was hard to understand what he was saying. After he rushed us out of the Forbidden city he took us at a silk making factory and a pearl making factory...apparently we had time for those. Also I might add these two stops were not advertised in the tour. Next he took us to lunch which was horrible. It was like I was eating western style Chinese food, stuff that you get at a bad Chinese takeout place back home. THEN he rushed us at the temple of heaven where we literally spent only 20 min because he wanted us to go to a medicine school to teach us about traditional Chinese medicine, basically another sales pitch. By 1:30pm we made it to Summer Palace, we rushed thru there and spent about 1 hour. We were on the bus on our way back by 2:30. Let me say that he initially told us that the tour would be over by 6pm. On the bus he kept talking about tips and basically making us feel obligated to give him a tip. When I gave him the tip, he counted it right in front of me and was upset that he got a small tip. Basically this was the tour from hell and seriously urge you to stay away. Reading the other reviews I realized that I wasnt the only one.

Beautiful attractions and a way to see a lot within a short time. Too much time spent in pressure shopping in partner shops. More time should be spent in the attractions. We had a knowledgeable and funny guide - Jackie, though sometimes we were not sure if he is laughing with us or at us. Biggest disppointment was that our return bus was merged with a different group, which made the trip longer for us but shorter for the guide. The excuse was that the bus needs fixing, but the same bus and driver arrived the day later for the next tour with no problems. It was an obvious lie, they just wanted to go home quickly and didn't feel like going through traffic to drop us off.

Amidst all the pollution and political overtones, the tour was actually quite fascinating. Tiananmen Square was cordoned off due to a passing of a presidential constituion, but we can see it from the Forbidden City. Alice, our tour operator was wonderful and very knowledgeable and spoke English well. it was a full day of walking thru the Square, Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven. We also had a nice lunch in town before heading to the Summer Palace. We were also treated with a complementary foot massage at the Chinese Medical Center just leave a tip. We also did a side trip to the Silk factory, where we were shown where silk came from and you may choose from a variety of silk merchandise for sale. All in all, it was a great tour and is highly recommended.

Tom is in the wrong business. He was disrespectful and rude. He did not offer any information. He acted annoyed anytime someone on the tour asked him questions like how long it took from the restaurant to the Summer Palace. When you asked questions he thought he already told you, he got angry and he let you know. How he has survived being a tour guide this long and why this tour operator has kept him around is beyond me. He was coughing the entire tour making us nervous about getting sick from whatever he had. We had to wait for the minivan to pick us up at least 20 minutes at every stop reflecting poor coordination between Tom and the driver. At the end of the tour, we were faced with repeated coerced tipping. If you book a tour with this company and find out Tom will be your tour guide, cancel it.I'm guessing the tour operator read the previous reviews and changed a few things because, during my tour, we did not visit any of the "unnecessary stops" like the pearl market or tea shops. I'm guessing the tour operator read the previous reviews and changed a few things because, during my tour, we did not visit any of the "unnecessary stops" like the pearl market or tea shops. We went solely to the places listed in the title. Also, I understand why some reviews stated that they felt the tour was "rushed." Maybe because it was summertime and hot, but by the last stop, everyone on the tour was drained and ready to go home. I felt the time allotted at each stop was more than enough unless you want a full history of each place and the time to do a full photoshoot. Lastly, my tour guide (Sunny) was good and friendly. She walks fast which gives the sense of being rushed, however, whenever I and others wanted to take pictures, she stopped and patiently waited. I would recommend this tour if you're looking to check off the box of a few major sites in the city without the need to spend hours at each place - just to visit, snap a few photos, and get a quick history lesson. P.S. Be prepared to be on your feet for a long time. The tour group was small so it is very relaxing. Tour guide and driver are awesome company who gave detailed information for all the places which we visited!
