Assisi, Cortona, and Perugia Full-Day Guided Tour

From a religious pilgrimage site to a famous film setting, this full-day tour takes you through the rolling green hills of Tuscany and Umbria to discover the artistic jewels of Assisi, Cortona, and Perugia.

Cortona is a delightful hilltop town of ancient origins that’s bursting with architectural treasures and spectacular views of the surrounding area. The movie, Under the Tuscan Sun, was filmed in Cortona in 2003.

Assisi, the birthplace of San Francesco, stands atop a hill overlooking a valley covered in vineyards. Enjoy a guided walk along the winding streets, following in San Francesco and Santa Chiara’s footsteps, to discover the historical and artistic treasures of this medieval town.

In the Basilica of San Francesco d’Assisi, you’ll admire Giotto’s frescoes of the life of San Francesco as you learn about the history of this important spiritual center. You’ll have some free time to explore the town.

The tour ends in Perugia, where you’ll have the opportunity to take a stroll through the old town along trails that wind among the 5 historic districts of the city – Porta Sole, Porta Sant'Angelo, Porta Santa Susanna, Eburnea Gate, and Porta San Pietro.

Perugia, founded by the Etruscans, is rich in monuments, including La Fontana Maggiore and the Arch of Augustus, the Palazzo dei Priori, and the Rocca Paolina.

Excellent guide.
Laura was wonderful as our guide!
We really enjoyed the tour of Assis and Cortona. Laura was a perfect guide, patient and informative. Given the rain in the evening, we could’ve skipped Perugia on the way back.

Tour to remember
Our tour was very organized and we saw so much in a limited time. Our guide, Laura, was very professional and friendly. I highly recommend this Tour.
Very little time to actually see anything.
I realised beforehand that my main achievement was likely to be that I would at least visit three new places. It was still frustrating; however, to have so very little time to actually look at anyhing. Assisi comes most to mind. Still, I will just have to come bàck and visit them properly!
Loved the free time to explore the cities on my own.
Although I understand the problem having 3 people on this tour who needed a Spanish language interpretation, it did add time to the tour. Was that what caused us to be over an hour late returning to Florence? I had people waiting for me from 7:45 based on the tour description and stated return time of 7:45. They (and I) were not happy with this unacceptable delay - which was something we were informed about as we were leaving Perugia. However, Alfonso was a great tour guide as was the guide in Assisi. And our driver was also very good.

Great tour
The tour was excellent and the tour leader David was great. We enjoyed a lot Cortona and Assisi which for sure is a place not to be missed
The tour itself was very good
+: comfortable pullman, three adorable towns, nice guide and her colleagues -: lack of preparation, lack of free-time
