This was an excellent tour which I highly recommend. The driver met us at a hotel on the waterfront, we drove for 3 hours to get to the reserve because of an accident on the road. The tour allows for such delays. The lunch buffet was excellent. The safari drive was almost 3 hours and we saw the " big 5". The driver answered all questions and was extremely knowledgeable about the animals we saw. The return trip was under 2 hours and 30 minutes. Overall excellent value for the money.

The driver pick us up on time and was very helpful, giving many explanations during the trip. When we arrived in the reserve we had a welcome drink and a buffet. The weather was beautiful and we could see many animals very closely during the safari. Definitely a memorable experience!

The trip from Cape Town to the gamer serve. the scenery is spectacular, mountains and valleys. The game reserve is lacking in animals and the ride through the reserve is less than exciting. Apart from advertising the big 5, cheetahs and leopards are missing, and the 3 lions looked like they were on drugs. Having done a safari in the Masa Mari, I was didn't expect anything better. I did enjoy the scenery however, and that made up for the paucity of wildlife.

One of the mist remarkable experience on this safari was to see Lions, Hippos. Elephants, Giraffes and much more animals in their environments. The safari was very much organised and our guide on the safari did an excellent job in explaining the habitats of the animals. I recommend this safari experience to anyone visiting Cape Town.

I was so impressed by this safari. I am lucky enough to have been on a safari previously, but Aquila Game Reserve is without a doubt the cream of the crop. The experience is incredible! Once we arrived, we were treated with some beautiful wine and then taken inside where we enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch. The selection of food was both diverse and mouthwateringly impressive. Once lunch was over, we boarded our safari truck and entered the reserve. We got up close and personal with every kind of beautiful animal among the spectacular scenery. To be that close to these magnificent creatures is a memory I will treasure for the rest of my life. If you are wanting to go on a safari tour, make sure you choose this one.

Excellent experience! We were picked up from our hotel right on time. Chad, our driver was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We were driven to the Aquila Game Reserve. When we got there, we ate a delicious complementary lunch, then began our game drive. The drive was about 2.5 hours and we saw all of the big 5. Our driver on the game drive was also super knowledgeable and shared interesting information about the various animals. Once the game drive ended, Chad was waiting exactly where he said he would be to drive us back to Cape Town. Overall, excellent experience and would highly recommend.

We were a bit reticent after some of the other reviews, but we had a great day. Our game reserve driver was good, too, and we felt safe in the truck. I'm not sure if the animals were fed before our drive, but we managed to see 4 of the big 5, as well as the many other animals there, and it was an amazing experience!!! Just remember, this isn't a national park. It is a reserve, but you still can't be guaranteed to see the animals. We were lucky, and I have some of the most amazing photos. Lunch wasn't great despite the various options, but we hadn't been well, so we ate little anyway and got snacks on the way. Bring plenty to drink as they aren't provided as part of lunch or get them when your driver does the pit stops. The complimentary wine was interesting. The journey there and back was longer than expected as we were 1st/last pick up, and the route was a bit uncomfortable at times, but the guide was very nice. And ge treated us to a stop with the rescued lion cub!!! Don't forget cash for tips for both drivers if you are happy with your experience.

I came for a safari or two, and that is what I got. The morning safari was better than the late afternoon one as it was cooler and more animals were out and about. To be so close to magnificent wild animals is fantastic. Aquila itself was ok. The spa area was very relaxing, sun loungers around the pool comfortable and entertainment from the local monkeys trying their luck - sometimes quite comical watching the staff chase them away. The food was standard and a buffet. The room, however, wasn't the best. We had a funny smell on entry and, on further investigation, discovered dirty sanitary wear in the bathroom bin. Once emptied, the smell disappeared. There was way too much furniture, making it seem cluttered, and the bathroom door was opaque - you could see the outline of the person using it.

Good game drives, horrible food, mass tourism. The game drives were good traveling with 2 small kids. The guide was passionate and it was fun discovering the animals with him. The rest of the resort was not really enjoyable. The room was not cleaned properly (we found used underwear) and the food was disgusting.

It was OK. Lunch left a little to be desired. Be prepared to be shook apart and dirty after the rough ride around the grounds. Take water to drink, as well.

Seeing the animals up close. We saw elephants, rhinos, buffalo and lions (4 out of big 5) and giraffes, zebras, impalas, nyalas, springboks, ostrich, baboons (on the side of the road). Spectacular views of the mountains. They also have a nice spread for lunch. No game meat as compared to others. Nice experience overall.

Not a great safari more like a safari park of old. Very regimented and very rushed experience. Spent very little time with each animal and I’m afraid it all looked a bit staged to me

An easy 2.5 hours drive from Cape Town, my visit to Aquila game reserve made the perfect day trip. The pick-up arrangements were very clear and punctual, all staff were friendly and efficient. Aquila is a hotel/spa with lodges but was not crowded. The lunch was excellent and the 2 hour tour in the reserve was fabulous. Thanks to Mike our very knowledgeable guide, we saw zebra, ostrich, wildebeast, antelope, lion, rhino (with baby) and elephant. Thank you Viator for an excellent day out.

We had a great time at Aquila. This is the perfect experience if you want to get a taste of what a real safari could be like. It is on a preserve. But we did see all the animals including lions, rhinos, elephants and zebras. We really did have fun and our tour guide was knowledgeable and personable. The breakfast and lunch buffets included were fine. You will find something to eat if you choose to. I recommend this experience.
