Stop At: Angels & Demons Tour, Rome Italy
A unique and interesting way to go sightseeing in Rome, this ‘Angels and Demons’ tour is inspired by Dan Brown’s novel, but there is no requirement for having it read it or being a fan of Brown’s (although it may help!). It’s a memorable way to explore the city’s lovely squares, fountains, architecture and churches, made interesting with the twist of visiting lesser-known sites where pagan and Christian symbolism intertwine.
Duration: 4 hours
Stop At: Chiesa di Santa Maria del Popolo, Piazza del Popolo 12 Campo Marzio, 00187 Rome Italy
Your experience visiting the real-life locations that inspired the novel begins at Piazza del Popolo in the incredible Santa Maria del Popolo church. Here, your English-speaking guide will set the scene for your race against the clock through the eternal city. You’ll be invited to unlock centuries-old clues hidden in plain sight as you learn about Rome’s favorite sculptor: the inimitable Bernini. Your guide will play a key role in making your tour an unforgettable experience as you are led on a quest to separate fact from fiction and history from stories in the novel.
Duration: 15 minutes
Stop At: St. Peter's Square, Piazza San Pietro, 00120 Vatican City Italy
You will be escorted through the city by a comfortable air-conditioned coach. You'll head past the famous St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican, the epicenter of the action in the novel.
Duration: 10 minutes
Stop At: Via Venti Settembre 17 Chiesa di Santa Maria della Vittoria, 00187 Rome Italy
Next on, Santa Maria della Vittoria church where we’ll admire Bernini’s exquisite Ecstasy of St. Teresa sculpture (and scrutinize it for clues!). Your guide is an expert storyteller that will bring the novel to life for you, and will further enrich your experience by sharing the fascinating history behind each of the sites you will visit.
Duration: 15 minutes
Stop At: Pantheon, Piazza della Rotonda, 00186 Rome Italy
Half way through the tour you will be offered a gelato or a coffee at one of Rome’s best café’s, Bar di Rienzo, located in front of the famous Pantheon, a welcome break as you continue to cover the city end to end in search of clues. (Please note: Admission to Pantheon is not included)
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Museo Nazionale di Castel Sant'Angelo, Lungotevere Castello 50, 00193 Rome Italy
Your search for the secret meeting place of the Illuminati and the novels’ finale will culminate on the terrace of Castel Sant’Angelo. Originally built as a mausoleum for the emperor Hadrian, this impressive fortress served for many years as a safe-haven for Popes and is connected directly to the Vatican by a hidden passageway called “il passetto”, which you’ll be able to see from outside. Be enthralled as you listen to your guide expertly recount the dramatic climax of the novel as you admire the equally dramatic view of the city center as seen from Castel Sant’Angelo’s roof.

This is the second time I have done this tour. The first time was 13 years ago and I was so impressed I booked it again but this time with my partner. Whether you have read the book or seen the film it’s a fantastic tour and Angela was really good at taking us around the sites and explaining all the details. There was a little bit of confusion over the start time but that’s a minor problem. A shoutout to Luca the our driver for somehow navigating his sprinter van through the tight winding streets of Rome 😂The best tour we did in Rome! We were very lucky to be the only 2 people on the tour so it was basically a private tour and it was amazing. Our tour guide Inti was absolutely fantastic. The best tour we did in Rome! We were very lucky to be the only 2 people on the tour so it was basically a private tour and it was amazing. Our tour guide Inti was absolutely fantastic. He was clearly very knowledgeable about Angels & Demons as well as Rome’s history, but the best thing was his enthusiasm. He brought the book to life and it felt like we were Robert Langdon and Vittoria trying to piece together the puzzle to save the cardinals. It’s the most enjoyable 4 hours; perfectly organised with a coffee break half way through. Being with Inti felt more like spending the day with a friend. It would be good to do this at the start of your trip as it gives a very good insight into Rome and helps you get your bearings of the city. Would 100% definitely recommend this.I am most definitely not a Dan Brown aficianado, but this tour is captivating. Despite terrible weather we didn't flag. Everything was interesting. It kept moving. Our guide not only made the book come to life, he also taught us a lot about Rome. We all (18 of us) left after 4 hours with smiles o...

I went on this tour about 5 years ago and decided to redo it on my recent visit, accompanied by my 18-year-old son. I was delighted to find that Rob was still leading the tour AND that it lived up to my very favorable recollection. I had read the book prior to taking the first tour but my son didn't want to read so he and I watched the movie together prior to taking our recent tour. He enjoyed it as much as I did. I HIGHLY recommend adding this tour to your agenda but do watch the movie, at a minimum, prior to heading to Rome. Enjoy! This tour was a great way to see Rome. Our guide, Angela, was very knowledgable about the sites we visited AND Dan Brown's book, Angels & Demons. We all thoroughly enjoyed it.
