Being a Dutch crime reporter (English/German speaking), I will give you the insights of the red light district: the backgrounds of the coffeeshop system and legalisation of prostitution, but also how it is connected to organized crime in Amsterdam.
Is smoking a joint really legal in Holland? (you can smell the weed). Why do sex workers pay taxes in the Netherlands?
Our 'trip' will start of in front of the NH Hotel Barbizon Palace (opposite to Central Station, see map), and will take us deep into the so called 'Wallen'-area, which is also the oldest and most beautiful part of the city. You will see the friendly freaks, the prostitutes behind their windows - in the small ally's - and cannabis plants being grown. I will take you to the most criminal street of Amsterdam. You will learn more on the most legendary crimes in the area.
We really liked the tour. Our tour guide was very nice and explained everything very well. Very Interesting! Absolutely recommendable!
We booked the tour through the red light district of Amsterdam. Our guide, Mr Joost van der Wegen, was able to explain the coherences between prostituion and drugs very good and vividly. It was noticeable that he is concerned with this topic. All of us 7 travellers thought this tour the highlight of our trip to Amstedam.
Detailled impression of the topic of the booked tour. Very interesting. Recommendable.
We did learn a lot about the red light district, not so much about a/the whodunnit.
I did expect it to be more exciting.
The tour title "Crime film tour" doesn't fit so much, because the background of the red light environment and the drug problems are presented in a realistic perspective.
