We did the full day tour from Bayeux with Adeline on 31/8/2020 and we were glad we did. We learnt so much about the D Day landings and Battle of Normandy. We visited both Utah and Omaha beaches, the American cemetery, plus a host of lesser known but historically important sites. Adeline readily answered all our questions and provided interesting snippets to make history of the area come alive. She also made sure we were well looked after and health and safety measures were followed. We definitely felt more enlightened after taking this tour and highly recommend it if you're visiting Bayeux.
Kate was an incredible guide. We had been planning a trip to Normandie for years and once we could finally travel again we knew we want to take a guided tour of the US landed beaches.
Kate is extremely knowledgable and familiar with the historical numeric as well as the little behind-the-scene stories of D-Day. She is also very passionate about the history of the region.
Our tour was amazing! Alex was a perfect, extremely knowledgable and passionate, I learned more with him in a few hours than in all my history classes in school!
We would give Kate 6 stars if we could. She was simply fantastic and made this such a memorable day for us. My wife was concerned about spending all day on this tour but said it was the best tour she has ever been on.
Kate's knowledge of, and passion for, history was exceptional. And she was a joy to spend time with - we saw and learned so much!
We toured the DDay battle sites, American cemetery and museum. We would highly recommend our guide, Alex, who was very knowledgeable and helped us understand the events, history and geography of the area.
Wonderful experience throughout the day. Our tour guide was just excellent. Museum at Utah Beach was a ice surprise.
We were on this tour the day France was shutting down museums, restaurants, and other nonessential businesses because of Covid 19. While we were not able to go into any of the museums and the American Cemetary was closed, our guide, Alex, did a phenomenal job of taking us to other sites. He was extremely knowledgeable and very personable. World War II history is of special interest to him so his presentation of information was thorough, engaging, and filled with interesting anecdotes. My husband and I were so impressed with Alex's knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject. Highly recommend this tour!
Our March 8 Normandy Beaches tour was the best! Our Gold Beach Company guide was a true historian with the gift of weaving human stories, wartime logistics and historical context into a picture of what D-Day was like. He taught, inspired, and made it so real. His energy and passion for his subject never flagged. It was a memorable, full day, ending with taps at the American Cemetery. We couldn’t imagine a better tour. Just phenomenal.
Kate was the perfect guide on this tour! She was knowledgeable and intuitive, understanding and helpful, passionate about history and compassionate toward her guests. She even looked up information about my dad's LST so that we could be on Omaha Beach where his ship was. I'm grateful we were lucky enough to be in Kate's care. Thank you for a memorable day!
Our day was perfect. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us great detail at every stop along our tour. It rained a little but, the group was awesome with no complaining to be had. Only appreciation for the sacrifice our soldiers had given. It was an honor to be there and an experience I thought I’d never have. Thank you to our guide for being so knowledgeable and sharing it with us.
Eric was outstanding. Extremely knowledgeable and enjoyable to spend a day with. The full day gave us plenty of time at each stop. Thank you!
My partner and I attended this tour in November 2019. Adeline was our guide and she impressed us with her incredible knowledge of the Battle of Normandy, explaining to us how both the allies and Germans approached this fateful day. She was punctual, professional, and held a great command of the English language. Every minute, even during the car ride, she’d enthusiastically highlight the importance, the history, and the mood of every monument and town we passed.
The tour was also amazing and focused on the American’s point of view. The small tour size also allowed the guide to attend to all our questions.
Overall, the tour and guide made this an unforgettable experience.
Our guide was Alex. He was awesome and so knowledgeable about the area and the events that took place during the Normandy Landings. The best part was that our tour group was super small! Me, my mom, and one other guy! It felt so personal and I really felt like we were able to get to know Alex as our guide and as a person. He was super funny, too!
He took us to some areas that most tour groups don't get to go, so it felt very special and like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. As a WWII history buff, I enjoyed every second of it and also was able to learn new things!
What an awesome experience!
We had a great time and learned so much. Definitely recommend this tour. We stayed in Bayeux the night before, which was also very nice.
We were lucky enough to be guided on this excursion by the extraordinarily knowledgeable and very generous Sophie Haurogne. She had a military historian's expertise regarding D-Day, and had a deep understanding of the social and political implications of the invasion on the people of Normandie. When she learned that my great-uncle had been involved in the campaign, she went out of her way to connect us with people who could shed light on his experience and honor his memory. People who possess this level of knowledge, and who are also kind and generous, are rare, and it is a tribute to this organization that Sophie works with them.
We seldom take organized tours and had not planned to do so while in Normandy - we felt we could do this on our own. Circumstances prevented us from doing so and at the last minute we booked this full-day tour. It was the best thing that could have happened.
Our tour guide wasn't just knowledgeable and articulate and thorough, he LOVES this topic and LOVES the men who participated in the Battle of Normandy. His words and stories, his passion brought tears to our eyes countless times. He made us know the men of D-Day, he made them real, he made them "our family". I am a retired history teacher and I knew many facts prior to this and this visit to Normandy was a pilgrimage of sorts. However, after our tour both my husband and I have been moved and changed by what we experienced on this tour. Thank you to Eric (I believe that is his name) for the gift of an intimate understanding, appreciation and insight into that momentous day.
Go on this tour!
Sophie was an absolutely wonderful guide. She was very knowledgeable and really personalized our trip. I would definitely request her again should I ever return.
Alex was our tour guide and he did an excellent job. The information he presented was full of both the general historic information but also information he has gleaned from his own research. It was a long day but necessary to see everything. I will recommend it to anyone.
David was a wonderful tour guide! I loved how this tour was laid out-in the order of the landings, and the historical nuggets that David shared along the way. A humbling experience that I highly recommend. It was timed perfectly, finishing at the American Cemetery.
Simply amazing. Professional, comfortable ride, so much history and explained thoroughly. Sophie our tour guide was knowledgeable and a sweetheart. My only regret? The tour ended and my heart was filled
Our tour escort, Sophia was very knowledgeable and personable. She knew the backroads of area, giving us wonderful views on a rain driven day. There is so much to see and the tour covers a large area the D-Day invasion, there is a bit of information overload. Because of the weather, Sophia went beyond her normal tour and dropped each of us off at our hotels. We really enjoyed the day.
Arnauld our guide was an absolutely excellent provider of information and was able to explain D Day in a way that helped us appreciate the sacrifices made.
We had a wonderful time! Arnauld is very knowledgeable. He is a very good driver, made us feel very comfortable. Highly recommend!
The tour was excellent and well beyond our expectations. Alex the tour guide was enthusiastic and very knowlsdgable was willing and able to answer any questions. We saw key sights prior to getting to the beaches such an a Key bridge where fighting went on for days and a church where a paratrooper got hung up on the steeple. At the Allied landing sight beaches we investigated German pill box ruins and key allied forces landing sights. At the end of the day we participated in the flag lowering ceremony and toured the 9000 American soldiers' graves. The day's tour was a not to miss experience.
The time on our tour was time well spent. Our tour guide, Eric, was informative and entertaining. At every stop, he provided a background story that gave a personal side to the factual information. While the tour is about 8-9 hours long, the time flew by and we enjoyed the entire day. I highly recommend this tour.
Very informative of what the Americans accomplished on d-day. Would recommend, even if not into history
David was very knowledgeable and helpful. He had great insight and was very kind, even beyond the trip.
Alex was an amazing guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and passionate. We will never forget this experience!
Arnold did a great job, he gave very informative details about each place we visited and let us have some time to explore on our own. This is a very moving and powerful tour which should strike a chord with everyone and help get a better understanding of the sacrifices these men gave to free the world from tyranny.
