Great ATV buggy experience and the photo/video package is a must get. You will get mud splashed and completely drenched so make sure you put your items in a locker(small fee/$cash) or have water proof bags. They provide helmets and goggles. We used disposable surgical masks that helped with the dust and to minimize water in mouth but was less effective after the drenching of course. They picked us up directly from our villa. You can pair up and switch drivers or drive alone to drive the entire time, price is per vehicle. A third of the way in we stopped by a village shop to taste coffee, cigars, chocolate and have an opportunity to purchase things. Bring cash to avoid the 18% credit card fees. The Larimar, amber and pink coral jewelry was similar cost to others places but don't forget to barter. Options to switch drivers are at the village and at the beach that we dropped by toward the end of ride to rinse off, drink bottle of water provided and have more photo ops.Best experience ever , I have went on this type of excursion before in other places such as Puerto Rico and others . The workers are so helpful and so nice made us feel so comfortable and made sure we had so much fun . You will get extremely dirty so wear old clothing . Also you get very wet , this is probably the longest one I have been on as well for this type of adventure. We will be back for sure and will do this again . I loved it and can’t say it enough thanks to all the workers in the Dominican RepublicMy wife and I had SO MUCH fun! The tour guide was so funny, you could tell he truly loves his job. We went on this excursion the day after it rained so we were prepared to get pretty wet, however we did not expect to be waist high in feces invested water. The trails were not maintained as we saw horse feces in the water that we were dubbing through and some areas smelled like sewage and had flies circling discarded boxes in the water that we were driving through. I was disgusted the entire ride. The guides were nice and took lots of pictures but that trail was not suitable for a buggy ride!Fun overall with a few caveats. Fun overall with a few caveats. The pickup point is outside of the amber cove cruise port. Its down the highway to the left a little ways. Super Buggies is the name of the open air bus that takes you to the buggy storage area. About a 40 minute drive in the bus. Very nice to see the towns and the local area's along the bus ride. From there you are taken to the buggy storage area where they store and service/build these things. More on that below. The guides were super nice and explained the process well along with a waiver you have to sign. On that note I cannot say the equipment is very safe or reliable. The dune buggies are pieced together from old car parts. Custom iffy welds and homemade seat belts that do not feel very secure. The dune buggy we had the driver seatbelt (mine) kept coming unhooked from the frame. It also latched with a small carabiner. The engine was just a 4 cyl car engine and transmission welded in the buggy with a custom radiator job up top. During our ride the throttle got stuck open twice since the car engine was never meant to have mud and rocks hitting it. There was no throttle override so I was hammering the brakes (iffy as well) to slow down until one of the staff could unjam it. The area we rode in was pretty but the muddy water puddles were mostly water run off from the nearby main roads along with donkey and cow manure. So it was a bit nasty to think of what is all in that muddy water. And you get covered in the mud since the buggies do not have wheel fenders to cut down on the spray so make sure you have a face covering and goggles for sure. You do not want that stuff in your eyes, nose, mouth etc. I originally thought the ride would be through creeks and streams with running clearer water. We did stop at a beach for about a 20 minute break which was very nice and you could buy local goods there if you wish. Then we continued on to a clear local river to wash off. Then rode paved back roads back to the buggy storage area. Then the open air bus takes you back to the cruise port. Make sure to wash your clothes right away or you will be trashing them for sure. Wear cheap water shoes you can throw away.
