Stop At: Maimon, Maimon, Puerto Plata Province, Dominican Republic
The fun starts just 15 minutes from port at the home base in Maimon where you'll gear up, get a few safety instructions, rev your quad engine and head off into the beautiful Dominican countryside following the Atlantic Ocean coastline! We start by rolling through the charming village of Maimon on the way to our first stop ... a spot where you can take a photo of your cruise ship behind you in port before heading deeper into the country.... and we do mean back country. It's not unusual to pass someone on a donkey delivering milk, or roll past chickens and wild turkeys running down the road, or pass a piglet or two foraging in the mud and of course, waving at smiling locals along the way to our next stop... an authentic little cigar rolling shack where you'll learn about cigars, sample local organic hot chocolate and coffee and even taste a bit of Mamajuana!

- Children must be accompanied by an adult
- Minimum age to drive a quad is 16 years old
- Minimum passenger age is 5 years old (children 5-15 years or age may not drive the quad)
- Anyone intoxicated at pick up will not be permitted to take the tour
- Infants must sit on laps
- Maximum weight on one quad is 300lbs single driver or combined with a passenger
- Not recommended for pregnant travelers
- No heart problems or other serious medical conditions
- Most travelers can participate
- We require a minimum of 2 quads booked to operate the tour
- Not recommended for travelers with back, neck or knee problems
- This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund
- This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 20 travelers

One of the best excursions my fiance and I have ever been on. We were originally a little nervous booking outside of the cruise line but it was completely safe and perfectly organized. The team was constantly aware if the time and we were never worried about getting back on time. The atvs were awesome and super easy to operate. All automatic. We were giving a quick safety talk then we were off through the beautiful scenery of the dominican republic. We stopped at many outlooks and beaches. Even got to see cigars hand rolled at a little shop on the road and had an amazing home cooked lunch on the beach. But riding the atv is definitely the highlight. We didn't putt along in 1st at 5 mph we actually got some speed and went through some muddy and dirty trails. We got to go through a river and some sandy areas. It was exciting but never felt in any danger or required too much skill. To top it all the guide alex was amazing. He was knowledgeable about the area and made the experience even better. Only 6 people on the tour and Alex made it feel like a private tour joking with us and keeping things fun and exciting. 100% recommend blue iguana tours and especially alex and his team!Guanaka1

Iguana Mama exceeded my expectation. My group was 38 people. The walk was a little long to get to them but it was worth every second. They had a big bus waiting for us. They greeted us with cold water and they are very welcoming. Jose and Carlos were our guide. They explained everything in detail. We did the ATV, BEACH and Lunch. I had a few people that did not do ATV and enjoyed the beach. We started off with the ATV. It was amazing. We rode for a longtime. Carlos did an amazing job. We headed to the beach after and had lunch waiting for us. The food was so GOOD. Very authentic Dominican food (Homemade). We had tables and chairs by the beach. After we ate and went for a swim. We rode our ATV back. Which was more ATV riding time. We also stopped at an authentic cigar shop. We also went to a spot where they had chocolate and fresh cinnamon sticks. Overall this was the highlight of our trip. Carlos and Jose were amazing and I highly recommend this excursion to anyone. When I come back to Amber Cove I will definitely be choosing Iguana Mama for my next excursionRoger R

We took the ATV excursion with Robert in Amber Cove. We are in our 70's and our first time on a ATV. It was so fun. We saw so much of the island. Our tour included a home-cooked meal on the beach. It included grilled chicken, rice, potatoe salad and grilled plantains. The food was excellent....

It included grilled chicken, rice, potatoe salad and grilled plantains. The food was excellent. After lunch, we had ample time to enjoy the beach and a swim in the beautiful water. Yummy Rum and Coke at the end of the ride Robert is great guide. He took good care of us "old" people. We highly recommend this tour and be sure to ask for Robert. You will not be disappointed. My fiance and I had an amazing time on the atv excursion. Alex the tour guide was awesome. We rode to a spot to see people hand roll cigars and then to a beautiful beach. After that we drove through a small river to a little beach hang out where we had some delicious food. We then drove the atvs back to the bus to head back to port. Alex was very knowledgeable explaining local sights and views. The ride was exciting with some water to drive through and mostly dirt rode but never dangerous or super challenging. We weren't worried at all about getting back to the port on time as Alex and his team were always aware of the time. Over all a great experience with Alex and the iguana mamma team. Definitely book with them if you are in amber cove. A safe and almost certainly more exciting excursions than booking with the ship.
