For this tour we wake up and leave early in the morning at 05:00 - 05:10 am. and drive up into the mountains to visit the Wat Phra That Doi Suthep temple ( A Chiang Mai Land-mark.) We highly recommend visiting this famous temple at dawn. The temple is quiet and the monks are just chanting, rousing and going out to receive alms offerings. Without any crowds you can enjoy the magical morning light and incredible views in serenity. It is the beginning to a great and wonderful day.
Doi Suthep temple is located on the peak of the Doi Suthep Mountains and is the most famous landmark in Chiang Mai. They say you have not truly been to Chiang Mai if you have not visited this temple ! At the top of the temple you can view the pagoda shining with real gold, and a viewing platform offers panoramic views of the whole Chiang Mai City – take in the wonderful countryside landscape while the sun rises behind the city and mountains. The morning sky and view could be immortalized in a beautiful painting ! Morning life at the temple is unforgettable -the sound of temple bells, monks chanting and the fascinating view of Chiang Mai will fill your heart. Don’t leave Chiang Mai without this impression.!!!
Before we continue to the other sites, we will have a nice and original taste of famous and delicious Chiang Mai food. ( Khoi Soy or Thai local breakfast sticky rice and Local Thai KFC. )
After sunrise. we will drop by at the hidden jungle temple and Wat U-Mong to enjoy the serenity surrounding & peace ! Both of them are unique meditation places, very interesting and serene.

Amazing amazing one of the best tours ever guide was great friendly and informative. I found the whole thing quite spiritual and overwhelming would definitely recommend without a doubt...
Guide was amazing. I think his name was Non.
The sunrise is so worth seeing. Get this added to your plans.
On time every step of the way. My guide was top rate, knowledgeable, managed a diverse group with style and patience. Truly a top box experience.
I am so happy that I took this tour. It is such an experience. The tour company picked me up on time from my hotel and we arrived at the temple before the sunrise. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the temples we visited and about the history of Buddhism. We pretty much had the temple to ourselves and was able to tour the temple without issues. We were able to sit on a buddhist lesson between a monk and monks in training. We were also able to give alms to a monk and receive a blessing. After that, we watched the sunrise over Chiang Mai. It is a great view of the city. Then we visited two more temples, including the hidden temple (with its resident peacock). At the end, we had a traditional thai breakfast at a local restaurant.
Incredible experience. It was so peaceful being in the temple at sunrise and listening to the monks perform their morning chants. One really is swept up with the atmosphere. There is nothing like it and it is an experience everyone should try.
Worth getting up early for! Highly recommend going before the crowds arrive. Our former monk guide was fantastic and very knowledgable. So glad I booked this tour as it was one of the highlights from my Chiang Mai trip.
This is an early start but worth it for beating the crowds and getting to experience the Monks morning start in a Temple. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate and gave us a good perspective on a Monks life.
Had such a wonderful time on this tour! Perfect morning away from the crowds in Chiang Mai. We were there before sunrise and the other groups, got to interact personally with the monks, visit the secret temples, and have a great breakfast! Would highly recommend this tour!
Sunrise is a fantastic time to go to Doi Sudep: no crowds, see the sun rise, view the temple in the dark and after sunrise, see monks chanting and an Alms giving-ceremony. The hidden temple is also great - so peaceful. We had a very small group (myself as solo traveller and two other people) so it felt like a private tour. Mon is an excellent guide - punctual, friendly, very knowledgeable (and a great photographer!).
I highly recommend this tour.
John, our leader, was personable and professional and shared his wealth of knowledge with ease. We did the early morning tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is certainly worth the effort for those who like to sleep in... The hidden temple was magical, so much so, we returned on our own a few days later and spent a couple of hours there. We even met up with John, who was doing another tour. We highly recommend this tour.
Amazing sunrise over Chiang Mai in a tranquil atmosphere with Doi Suthep right behind us. The guide was a former monk, practising for 14 years, who provided us with lots of information and insight into Buddhism, Doi Suthep and Thai culture. The breakfast provided was a delicious bowl of Khao soy, made by a local vendor. Well worth the early wake up!!
The tour was perfect! Everything was planned so well and getting to the temple for sunrise was so worth it. Not only does one avoid the hoards of tourists, experiencing the monks chanting and tasting the different foods was such a great experience. There were so many different experiences in this one tour - worth every penny.
This tour was not only visit the famous place, but be included valuable things such as praying to monk or donation or something other unusual experiences. The guide was very charming and had much knowledge. So I enjoyed very much for valuable 4 hours. Thanks a lot.
We were collected from our hotel on time. The guide was well prepared and it was just as decribed. No crowds, beautiful view.
