What to expect
The Anaga Mountains occupy a large section of the north-east part of Tenerife and consists of coastline, ravines, Laurel forests and villages that are so remote it is amazing that anyone actually lives in them. This whole area is a protected natural landscape, it is breathtakingly beautiful and full of twists and turns that will delight and amaze. Our walk is a great introduction to the area and its outstanding natural beauty. It is full of spectacular contrasts, and home to a wealth of native fauna and flora, a direct result of the region's isolation and ecological variety. The area’s special climate has led to the existence of one of the most important specimens of laurisilva or laurel forest in the world. This primitive forest dates from the Tertiary Period and is only preserved in the Canaries, Madeira and several islands of the Azores. Laurisilva is an extremely important resource, since its dense mass retains moisture, refills the aquifers (natural water deposits on the island), as well as creating and preserving fertile soil. There are many routes in this area.
Distance: typically about 12 km, with up to 600m ascent/descent, moderate to hard taking 5 hours.

- Face masks must be worn in our vehicles, irrespective of the restrictions here. We ask everyone to bring their own face masks and hand sanitizer wipes, however, we do have them available should you forget yours
- This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund

Andy alway finds exceptional paths with great views and a few surprises. I love the tunnel through the Mountain. Andy is very knowledgeable about the flowers as you are walking and always happy to chat and answer questions. I must also give credit to Lynne for all the communications which were excellent before and during trip. I must thank you for your understanding as I had to cancel my last walk due to travel restrictions changing whilst on holiday. You were so lovely and very understanding. Thanks to Andy for this amazingly beautiful walk. Tenerife has so many different areas and Anaga feels like a totally different island yet again. Andy explained about flora and fauna and about the people who live there. You might even get to see the only bear on Tenerife ;-) Our hotel wasn’t located in the pick-up zone, so we met Andy in a parking area at the edge of the Anaga region. To get to our final parking place we could simply follow his bus. Since we couldn’t fit two pairs of trekking poles into our luggage, Andy was so nice as to provide us with a second pair. The walk itself wasn’t as hard as expected; Andy let us take it slow and do the ascents in our own time. There were many stunning views and Andy picked an incredibly beautiful lunch spot over the clouds with a view of the sea and Punta del Hidalgo.One of the most spectacular walks I have done with Tenerife guided walks. We arranged a hike in the Anaga mountains, organising a stopover in Tenerife specifically to do the walk and Lynne and Andy forgot our booking. Lynne was extremely apologetic and refunded the payment and offered to do the walk on a future date. As it turned out, the national parks were closed due to fire risk but it was nonetheless a very frustrating experience. Perhaps best to check your booking prior to arrival.I did several hikes with Andy, e.g. Anaga (two different beautiful hikes), Masca from above and a few others. They were all absolutely amazing. I did several hikes with Andy, e.g. Anaga (two different beautiful hikes), Masca from above and a few others. They were all absolutely amazing. The views I enjoyed, the nature I experienced and all the knowledge Andy has about Tenerife and especially the plants and birds typical for the region made my experience perfect. He knows the most beautiful paths that I would have never found or hiked without him and I would have missed the most beautiful spots on Tenerife.
