While the sky didn’t behave, Jeff was wonderful. He’s a native and a tremendous ambassador for Fairbanks. He was entertaining, had so many stories about the area, and he was just a delight! And he knows how to drive on those icy roads. We felt super safe at all times. Thanks for salvaging a fun e...

They have a nice cabin in the woods without city lights. Our guides name was Joe, very friendly and local. They offer hot water, cookies, tea and coffee. I think it is a very good alternative for the first timers to attend to. They have a nice cabin in the woods without city lights. Our guides name was Joe, very friendly and local. They offer hot water, cookies, tea and coffee. You can alternatively bring a can of soup and warm it there. As an alternative for the second timers or if it feels expensive and you want to explore yourself, you can pick a spot from google maps and drive there with your rental car. After all sky watching is free. You just need to find a nice spot.Cultural experience of being with a great story teller while waiting for the Northern Lights to appear.
Cultural experience of being with a great story teller while waiting for the Northern Lights to appear. To the naked eye, we didn’t see the Northern Lights. You had to stand out in the cold and figure out on your I-phone how to take pictures to see the lights. The tour director didn’t know to be quiet on the way back at 2:45am. The tour director didn’t know to be quiet on the way back at 2:45am. He kept talking when everyone wanted to sleep. It was cold and rainy and less than spectacular. We had waited too long to book this tour with our cruise line so we went with this tour instead. We had waited too long to book this tour with our cruise line so we went with this tour instead. The staff they had working for them did their best, but they were just average locals who had some knowledge to share about the northern lights but at times they were not able to answer the guests questions. Unfortunately the northern lights were not visible due to the weather which was not the company's fault. They tried to keep us entertained by a mushers knowledge on training and competing in sled dog races. He did a good job! The yurts were warm and were good for staying warm while waiting. We were picked up at 10pm and arrived at the yurts around 10:40pm. We then waited around until about 1:15am and then headed back to our hotel. I'm not sure what other entertainment they could offer while waiting but they should come up with some fresh ideas! It was not remarkable,,I guess because we did not get to see the lights,, the driver was nice and the yurt where we were resting in between sightseeing was warm and comfortable!!
