Overview
Hi, my name is Richard. I really enjoyed my first year of Aix Walking Tours , my love of this town and history is a great combination . I met lots of interesting, engaging people from all over the world and had a ton of great reviews and I was looking forward to an even better 2020 and then Covid19 . The good news is we are now back, so if you can get to Aix , I would love to see you.
I have lived and worked in the UK, USA and Asia . On a year plus family trip around the world we took a lot of walking tours. Its the best way to get to know a city and I got to know what makes a good walking tour - Small groups , so you can hear and ask questions. A guide who knows the facts , but also the stories , the characters , the fun, what its like to actually live in the city. I want you to know Aix and even want to live here , or at least come back and visit again !

Stop At: Office de Tourisme d’Aix-en-Provence, 300 avenue Giuseppe Verdi, 13605, Aix-en-Provence France
The Ceanne statue is 50 m in front of the Office de Tourism towards La Rotonde. Its about 6 feet tall , so hopefully hard to miss

Stop At: Fontaine de La Rotonde, Entree cours Mirabeau, 13100, Aix-en-Provence France
This is the symbol of our city. We will have a bit of history here. What have the Romans done for us !

One of the most famous boulevards in France built in classic proportions. Lots of interesting stories and history , from Napoleon to George Clooney.

Spectacular mansion in the Mazarin Quarter and a superb art garllery

Newly restored square in front of the Palais de Justice. Site of the destroyed Palais des Comtes , remains of which have just gone on display under glass in the pavement !

Aix most famous square and its got a fascinating fall from power story behind it.

The town hall square has been here since the 14 century, its also the site of the grand Halle aux Grains and the 15 century Clock Tower.
In the morning there is a daily flower market, in the afternoon the cafes spread their tables out under the umbrellas.

The Cathedral is the oldest building in Aix with parts of it from Roman times. Its had its fair share of history including being attacked by the French Revolutionaries.

Richard was an excellent tour guide. He was funny, intelligent and informative. On this tour we roamed through the streets of Aix learning its secrets and fun facts. I really enjoyed my morning and highly recommended it to anyone looking to learn a bit more about this magical ville!

Richard was a great host! An amazing way to walk through the city of aix and looking at it from a different point of view while learning a lot about the history of the city. The walk is not to long/to far so verry accesable for everyone. A great addition to a relaxing holiday

Richard was an excellent guide! I learned so much as he took us through 2,000 years of history around the old city. Although I had previously walked through the city 5 times, I didn't know what I was looking at and didn't appreciate this beautiful city until I went on Richard's tour. Thank you!
