Andrea was a friendly, fun and informative guide. We learned so much about the interesting neighborhoods of Madrid, customs, restaurants and markets. Tastings were delicious- chocolate and churros, chorizo and cheeses, bread and pheasant pâté, nun-made cookies, wines and cava. It was a wonderful four hours well-spent with a very nice group of fellow tourists. We totally enjoyed tour and insights into Madrid. Andrea was excellent and very genuine. We loved the overview of Madrid, the plazas we visited, the markets, the oils, the wines, the simple food and particularly the off-the street hidden gems.

Andrea Droege, our tour guide, turned an ordinary tour into an extraordinary afternoon. She is an expert on Madrid, and had studied tourism to enhance her skills in sharing this amazing city. Andrea is knowledgeable beyond measure, funny and truly a great person. We immediately fell in love with her, and booked another tour for the very next day. Everything about both tours was very well done: from the meeting instructions, length of tour and the various stops along the way. Do yourself a favor...book this tour and request Andrea!!Leila took us on the tour on our very first day in Madrid, which was ideal because we got to spend the rest of our time there with a better lay of the land, sense of history, ideas of where to eat/what to see, etc. She was REALLY knowledgeable and also a delight to spend a day with! Leila took us on the tour on our very first day in Madrid, which was ideal because we got to spend the rest of our time there with a better lay of the land, sense of history, ideas of where to eat/what to see, etc. She was REALLY knowledgeable and also a delight to spend a day with! HIGHLY recommend this experience. We got to explore some local markets and try local specialties (hosted by some lovely people/experts), saw interesting historical spots (including some secret ones that we would never have otherwise seen or learned about), got to ask Leila all kinds of nosy questions about Madrid, Spain and its culture and got great recommendations for where to eat, drink, wander and so on. If you're into food, history and local culture, this is the experience for you!! Thank you Leila for an amazing day!We toured Chocolateria San Gines for some churros and Chocolate + coffee, the Convent of Cloistered nuns on calle del Codo for the nevadivto cookies, the Mercado de la Cebada, to visit my good friend Dani for olive oil and wine, and the Mercado de Anton Martin for some artichoke pate and Cava! We toured Chocolateria San Gines for some churros and Chocolate + coffee, the Convent of Cloistered nuns on calle del Codo for the nevadivto cookies, the Mercado de la Cebada, to visit my good friend Dani for olive oil and wine, and the Mercado de Anton Martin for some artichoke pate and Cava! Our guide was Daniela Parkes and we could not have had a better tour. She is a native speaker of both English and Spanish and her knowledge of the history of Spain and Madrid is exceptional. She really made the tour special by relating the history of Madrid associated with the very stones we were walking on. One thing that made the tour special is that Daniel took us to places off the beaten track. We visited prison cells dating from the Inquisition that are underneath a modern senior center (no signs advertise these) and we saw part of the Madrid wall discovered in an excavation in the 1908s. This was inside a non descript apartment building for which Daniela arranged access (again, not advertised; you'd never know it was there!) She is funny and kind and a pleasure to spend time with. I could not recommend a guide more highly.
