What to expect
A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004, Thingvellir is home to the world’s oldest existing parliament established in 930 AD. Explore the natural wonders and see the largest lake in Iceland.
Next, visit Geysir and Strokkur, examples of the raw power of Icelandic nature. Geysir is a geothermal field that’s the remains of an old volcano. Strokkur is an extremely active geyser that erupts every 5-10 minutes.
The final stop is Gullfoss, named the Golden Waterfall due to the rainbows that offer golden colors above the gorges on days with good weather. Feel the mist as you get close to the waterfall and watch the glacier water rush down.
Finally, it’s time to chase the Northern Lights. Sit back and relax as your guide drives to the best location to view the spectacle for the night. Watch the vibrant colors dance in the sky before driving back to Reykjavik for drop-off back at your hotel.

What an amazing experience we had on this tour, we saw all we wanted and most importantly the northern lights. For anyone wanting to see the northern lights this is the tour to do. Our guide Adam picked us up at 2:30pm, originally it was scheduled for 12pm but Adam pushed it back 2 hours to give use the best chance of seeing the northern lights as evenings were getting lighter. So once we got going we were only with one other couple so just the 4 of us, felt very personalised and Adam was the perfect host, excellent English and knowledge as we went round. First stop was a waterfall from game of thrones, then on to another. Strokker geyser was next and that was great to see, huge bursts into the sky! We then went to gullfoss waterfall and this was the main one to see for us and again was excellent, as we went in winter we couldn’t walk close to the fall, if done in summer you can walk very close, though in winter the whole of Iceland is covered in snow and great to see as well. Into the evening by now we went for dinner, so no need to take too much with you just snacks are enough, we had pizza at the Mika restaurant, very nice and waited for the night time to come. This is where Adam truely stands out, he goes above and beyond to be sure you have the best chance of seeing the aurora, with his 3 different apps, for cloud cover, aurora meter and something else I can’t remember he scans the weather and decides then where best to go, clear skies of course are the best, we soon set off and got to our designated area around 9pm, no one else around just us, this was our first time yet the couple we were with was their 4th, as soon as we landed bang the start of the light show began, already he found a great spot, they come and go but got stronger as the night went on, I added a pic so you can see. And just so you know this was taken by Adam himself, with his tripod, camera and torch to get the full illumination of us and the northern lights, we spent 2 hours there and got loads of snaps, Adam took about 6 of use so we had some really good shots, this made this experience for us and thanks to Adam we got to see a lot of the northern lights, Adam thank you! I could go on, but if you want one of the best tours and chances to see the lights this is definitely the tour to do, I plan to come back and do this again, oh and did I say Adam is pretty much a pro photographer, really a true gent. It’s a long day but so worth it , you won’t be disappointed, definitely worth every penny for us and will for you too. Top tip, iPhone 11 and above or any phone with night mode will get great pics, I didn’t have this but if I had known, you can download a night mode all for iPhone 6s like mine so do this just in case! Adam, thanks and see you again soon! Tony and LauraAdam (the guide) was just top class from start to finish. Nothing was too much. We started the tour at 230pm and we got back to the hotel at 1230am. Adam ensured that ourselves and another couple on the tour (who are deserving of a mention as they also made the tour a memorable day) had a complete full of chasing and experiencing the northern lights. We had a fantastic afternoon and this was one of the top highlights to our visit to Iceland. We were very fortunate to see the Northern Lights, thanks to Adam’s expertise and knowledge of the right conditions for viewing. He also helped us with how to photograph them and capture the memories. The ride was comfortable and informative for our family of 4 including two teenagers. Highly recommend this tour.Adam is a fantastic guide! He knows the area so well and joins you when visiting each location to tell you the history and also guide you to off the beaten track spots. We knew the forecast for the lights wasn’t looking good but Adam had a bunch of suggestions on other things we could do if the lights didn’t behave! My girlfriend and I went on this tour last Friday. We had Adam as our tour guide and he was absolutely brilliant. We couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide. He took us everywhere and was very accommodating. Despite the weather not being great for northern lights he went above and beyond for us to eventually find them. I would highly recommend this tour to everyone. Sam and Rhi
