Stop At: Chengdu, Chengdu, Sichuan
There are a million reasons Chengdu is an international food destination. It’s a UNESCO city of gastronomy. It’s the most popular Chinese cuisine in China. It has the highest per-capita ratio of restaurants in all of China. And at the same time, visitors know very little about food in Chengdu.
Travel by tuktuk and encounter spots you could never find on your own for a mix of street food, sit-down restaurants, and family-run joints:
Chengdu Street Crepes: This classic local street food comes in one of 4 flavor profiles: sweet, salty, spicy, and strange at a street-stall-turned-shop.
Sichuan-style Wontons: Learn why locals call them “Chaoshou, ” at a family restaurant where they’re made to order.
All the Noodles: Originally served on the street by men who carried the ingredients around on bamboo poles, Dandan noodles are possibly the OG hawker dish.
Classic Sichuan Dishes: Sample local delicacies like Mapo Tofu (there’s plenty of not-so-spicy dishes here too).

Stop At: Chengdu, Chengdu, Sichuan
End the night trying house-made plum wine in a 70s-80s themed bar that captures a unique turning point in China’s history. The bar is a 10 minute walk to the nearest subway station.

Really enjoyed it, especially the variety of foods and seeing the city through the tuk-tuk. Our guide Olivia was great and we ended up staying late trying different drinks at the brewery with her. Only problem was too much food!

The others on the tour were really pleasant and it was nice to meet others as well. All the stops were tasty and had a really great local feel. I loved the Sichuan style crepes; both the sweet and savory. The noodle shop was my favorite spot. And the family's house for wontons was an interesting entrance, but the wontons were all different and tasty. This is a tour I would recommend to anyone!Had a great time enjoying the food in Chengdu. The tour was totally worth it!As a foodie from Northern California, this tour is a great introduction to the cuisine of Chengdu. It has demystified all that we see on the streets and restaurants. Olivia chose a great representation of Sichuan cuisine. I can’t imagine a more qualified guide than her!!!

This was an amazing addition to my trip to Cheng Du. We went to four different restaurants and a brewery. I loved all the food choices. They were very diverse and delicious. I loved the focus on local cuisine which I wouldn’t have gotten to experience on my own. Our tour guide Olivia was amazing!! She was so knowledgeable on all the different places we went and the foods. She also made us feel so welcomed. This was definitely a highlight of my trip!!
