Although our reservation was overlooked the lovely Nga stepped in to ensure we had the best experience using her local knowledge and lengthy experience she introduced us to many delicacies from which it was impossible to choose a favourite. We were entertained with tales of the history of Hanoi as well as a background to the tastes we were sampling. Who knew sand worm cake could taste so good! Helen showed us all the best, local spots for some incredible street food throughout Hanoi’s Old Quarter. We tried bánh cuốn, bánh rán, bún bò Huế, nộm bò khô, gỏi cuốn, cà phê trứng, cà phê cốt dừa, and kem xôi. We ate so much we couldn’t fit anymore food in - all of it incredible! Helen has clearly done her work finding the absolute best Hanoi has to offer, and we so appreciated her guiding us through Hanoi’s culinary scene. We were both overwhelmed by choice and intimidated to try the street food before Helen - now after our tour we know the best vendors and what we love. Fabulous!Perfectly friendly guide but the whole thing felt very pre packaged and sanitised. We went to two very tourist oriented restaurants out of 6-7 stops.
