Open since 1934, the market in the neighborhood of Campo de Ourique was remodeled in 1991 and again in 2013, and continues to offer the fresh fish and vegetables of the day. It also has several shops facing the exterior, and the latest renovation added tables for the consumption of much of what is sold. Together with fish, seafood, meat, and fruits, there are also stalls specializing in pastries, pizza and sushi.

Casa Fernando Pessoa is the house museum where the writer lived for the last fifteen years of his life and where you can visit a reconstruction of his bedroom, the multimedia room and the library specialized in world poetry.

f you want to see several unique works of art, in the only open-air museum in Lisbon, then the Prazeres Cemetery and its museological pieces is the place to go. At the end of the no. 28 tram line, you’ll find a place housing the largest and oldest collection of cypresses in the Iberian peninsula. This is where the most important families in Lisbon hired architects, draughtsmen, sculptors and other artists to create their mausoleums and tombs. With the graves of countless famous figures and a variety of paths to follow, you can visit by yourself or join a guided tour. This 19th-century cemetery is impressive for its size and location, with an amazing view of Lisbon, the bridge and the river. Also visit the chapel, where you can see a collection of objects dedicated to the funeral ceremony, as well as an old autopsy room. Come and discover the quietest place in Lisbon.

The Basilica da Estrela is regarded as one of the most ornate churches of Lisbon with a detailed front facade and intricate geometric marble patterns that line the interior. On display is a permanent nativity scene that is composed of 500 figures and carved from cork. The Basilica da Estrela lies to the western side of Lisbon and is away from the common tourist trail but visitors who make the short tram journey will be richly rewarded with one of the finest churches in Portugal.
