Booked a group tour but ended up with a private tour as we were the only ones in the group! Our guide Clarke spoke fluent English (as he went to high school in New Jersey) and provided a unique perspective having lived in both Japan and the US. Booked a group tour but ended up with a private tour as we were the only ones in the group! Our guide Clarke spoke fluent English (as he went to high school in New Jersey) and provided a unique perspective having lived in both Japan and the US. Foodwise, we started off with gourmet coffee then headed off to a comprehensive Japanese breakfast (soup, salmon and rice). Fairly sated after that those first stops but had no problem continuing to eat - grilled scallops, egg, sushi, 2 strawberry desserts (daifuku and soft serve cone). We also learned about glassware and dishware, sake, fish market/buying and visited a shrine. Ended up buying some small plates, chopstick rests, dashi packs (base for soup broth). Arigato to Clarke for an enjoyable, informative tour with great cultural and food stops.KevinMP123

Our guide Asami was a delight. She was knowledgeable, personable, and fun. We feel so fortunate to have scheduled this tour on our first day in Japan. Not only did we sample so many delicious things, we were treated to a personalized introduction to Japanese culture, customs, manners and street smarts. Simple things like what and where to find delicious inexpensive snacks anywhere in Japan. And meaningful things like how to appreciate the regional pride the Japanese have in each localities food products. We were wowed and did not want the tour to end. I cannot day enough about this tour. Perhaps my favorite 1/2 day tour ever!Kevin_P

This was more than simply a delightful tour of the old Tsukiji Fish market, it was a warm and helpful welcome to Japanese culture. Our guide was not only knowledgeable, she was able to make us feel like we were family. I recommend this tour highly.

If you do one food tour in Tokyo do this one. The market is a confusing place, my husband and I went right before New Years. We met our tour guide in a fantastic coffee shop. We were surprised that we were the only 2 people on the tour... which was great because we ended up with a private tour. We strolled over to the market together. We started off with some seared tuna and the best cherashi bowl we’ve ever had... I’m still thinking about the uni! Our guide, Michie, was super considerate of what we liked and didn’t like. She knew all of the best places in the market and did all of the ordering. The market had really long lines and was quite hectic, we were very happy to have Michie with us. Thank you Michie for a great tour!!!!
