This was a great food tour one of the best we’ve done. Topher was our guide, and he was very informative and made it feel like we were hanging out with a friend. We had already tried one of the dishes on our own and he switched it from the menu so we could try something new. He also gave us a lot of tips of things to do in Shanghai and then in Vietnam. Thank you Topher!!!

We took the tour on our first night in Shanghai and it was actually a great introduction to the city and food. Our guide Topher was super knowledgeable in the different regions of China, the food, history, etc. He also shared some really helpful tips for the rest of our visit. He also did a wonderful job accommodating my vegetarian needs. There's no way I would have experienced food in Shanghai the same way without his help. Highly recommend!

This tour was outstanding and it was so good, I would do it again on my next visit to Shanghai! Topher was absolutely amazing and had so so much knowledge! Do not miss this amazing way to see spots in Shanghai you likely could not find on your own as a tourist.

We absolutely loved this tour! It was the first thing we did in Shanghai and was the perfect introduction to different regional foods in China. Our guide, Paul, was chatty, informative and personable. He navigated restaurants and food stalls with ease, all of which were authentic and unassuming places which we wouldn't have found or tried by ourselves (especially given that we aren't mandarin speakers). All the food was outstanding - we especially loved the Cantonese and Szechuan restaurants. We couldn't recommend this tour enough. Not only that, but Paul offered so many personal recommendations for the rest of our trip from his experience having lived in Shanghai for a number of years and it felt like having a friend in the city (Gabi loved the jianbing stall!!). He also happily answered our thousands of questions about life in Shanghai and China more broadly. We also found the recommendations in the welcome pack super helpful. After our experience on this tour, we are going to go on the UnTour Beijing breakfast tour later in our trip. Thanks so much, Paul!

This was an excellent food tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and was able to take us through not only Shanghai cuisine but foods from other parts of China as well which we never would have discovered otherwise! We had so much great food from classic Hong Kong dishes that we are accustomed to, to amazing Shanghai Xiaolongbao to more crazy dishes like locusts and cured eggs. Come on this tour and you will not be disappointed!

We enjoyed a very tasteful and interesting food trip at small, inconspicious sites in Shanghai where we would have never gone to. At each site Paul described with ease and quite accurately the taste of and what might be most typical for this particular Chinese meal, thus increasing our anticipation for the next station. Some minutes of walking inbetween made it easier to stimulate our appetite. Noticing the wide variety of ingredients chinese kitchen uses and being live at preparation made this well managed and guided night tour very memorable.

What a fantastic way to spend 3 hours! I've been living in Shanghai for over 10 years and I must say this tour opened my eyes to such much that I have been missing out on: the history, the preparations, the flavors, the characters, and the all the hidden gems that were unknown to me. The sad part is I'm about to return to the US and wished I spent more time at the restaurants and businesses UnTour took me to. I can confidently say I won't be getting anything like that outside of Shanghai. And even for the people in Shanghai, I'm afraid some of these places will disappear with time as the older generation retires. This is why I feel like it was such a treat and privilege to have been able to experience it and learn from the incredible team at UnTour. Money well spent and looking forward to another tour with UnTour before I leave town forever. Thank you!!!

Our tour guide Patrick showed us 5 nice restaurants with delicious food, which we probably never would try without him. In addition Patrick gave us a lot of background information which was very interesting. Based on our request he optimised this tour to a vegetarian tour.

The tour was very informative, I enjoyed exploring a Bew area and also learning the history behind the types of food selected for the tour. The tour guide, Patrick was very knowledgeable and friendly. This made for a relaxing enjoyable tour.

This tour was a great way to meet new people while sampling food from around China. Our guides Patrick and Shanshan were knowledgeable and friendly and took such great care of us. The tour was well-planned and executed. What a fun way to spend an evening! I highly recommend this tour if you’d like to discover cuisine from around China.

I was a bit nervous about doing this tour alone but it ended up being a lot of fun! The food was delicious, the people were all very friendly to talk with and the guides (Patrick and ShanShan) were very informative! Overall a great experience. I will definitely check out some of their other tours.

I enjoyed trying a variety of regional foods. My favorite was the final restaurant, especially when the staff performed a dance! Patrick and Shanshan were friendly and knowledgeable guides, and they worked really hard to ensure that all dietary and drink preferences were provided for. I will definitely join another tour soon!

I really enjoyed this night eats tour. Even though I have lived in Shanghai for 3 years (this is my 4th), I was still introduced to new foods and local experiences. Each stop brought experiences of food from different provinces around China, so it was great to try lots of different foods and find out the backgrounds of each dish. Our guides Patrick and Shanshan were informative, polite and friendly. I had a great time and would highly recommend this tour!

Great experience! Our leader Patrick was friendly and very knowledgeable about each of the cuisines and dishes. The food was excellent, and it was a real treat to meet the other tour members. I have already recommended the tour and the restaurants to friends and colleagues here in Shanghai. I may even take the tour again myself!

I had an amazing food tour with UnTour. The guide, Patrick, was amazing and the food was incredible. As someone who lives in Shanghsi I can feel super overwhelmed by the food choices available and always love to find new great places to go.
