I was very fortunate having Peggy as my guide for the day. She is a walking encyclopedia of information with a quirky sense of humour giving an incredible grassroots view about Shanghai's history! The highlights can be customized to your interests and it doesn't feel like you're on a conveyor belt going from one venue to the next. If you want to spend a bit more time at one attraction, no problem! It would take me three days of research and city navigation to cover what we did in one day; Peggy was very helpful in suggesting further attractions for my remaining days. If you have a few days in the city, I strongly recommend doing this on your first day to get an idea what Shanghai is all about for the remainder of your time in this fascinating city!The one and a half days we spent with Celine gave us a glimpse into Shanghai and Xitang that would not have been possible without a private tour. The one and a half days we spent with Celine gave us a glimpse into Shanghai and Xitang that would not have been possible without a private tour. Celine's knowledge of Shanghai and the Xitang Water Town was immense and we are very grateful to have booked a tour with this company! Celine was a kind and helpful guide who looked after us like we were her parents and made us feel comfortable trying new experiences and foods. Celine was well educated,very professional, and showed us three times more of Shanghai than any other cruise ship passenger we talked with who took the ship's tours. She ensured we had a chance to see what was on the itinerary, as well as add any other stops we desired such as shopping for bakery items, seeing schools and hospitals. The Bund, Confucius Temple and Tea Ceremony, Yu Gardens were awesome. The soups and dumplings at Yangs were excellent. The driver Mr Shen (spelling?) was very cautious, professional and safe. I had no concerns about our safety during the tour. He also provided us with 3 large umbrellas as it rained periodically through the day. Peggy met us at our hotel at the appointed time and asked us several questions so she could custom tailor our day. My wife has some problems walking and in particular stairs with no railings. Peggy adjusted our tour to avoid this type of encounter but more importantly, added stories about her own family which really personalized the day. Lunch was not included but we persuaded Peggy to join us at a truly local place where she was able to order and pay for food with her cell phone, something we could not do. It was inexpensive and really good. Yes, we paid for all of us but it was still a bargain we could not have found on our own. If there were 6 stars, Jenny's would get them hands down.
