On this Behind the Wall Tour you will explore and discover the fascinating side to Berlin’s history that has shaped the city into what it is today. After meeting your local tour guide and group, you’ll walk to the ‘Palace of Tears’ and learn the incredible story behind its name. You’ll follow the fading traces of the Cold War in Berlin to a spot where East and West were divided for decades.

Stop At: Humboldt University (Humboldt Universitat), Unter den Linden 6, 10099 Berlin Germany
The next part of your East-Berlin tour will give you the opportunity to see some of the major highlights of Berlin, which have lived through the decades and survived the many regimes (WWII, The Cold War, Reunification) such as the world famous Humboldt
University's palace-like main building, where you’ll see the exact spot where the notorious book burning of 1933 took place, before passing the impressive Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site with numerous world-class museums and the majestic Berliner Dom.

Stop At: DDR Museum, Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 1 Direkt an der Spree, opposite of Berliner Dom, 10178 Berlin Germany
Your guide will share the story behind the reconstruction of the new Prussian Palace, which has been rebuilt at the exact location of the former Palace of the Republic (The GDR Government building) which was destroyed after reunification. Your tour will lead you past the famous DDR Museum (the visit is not included in the tour but is highly recommended).

Now you will do a jump in time to dive into life in 90s East Berlin, taking in some of the most well- known squats and punker clubs before exploring the Hackesche Höfe, a stunning building of interconnecting courtyards, and now a buzzing cultural and arts
space bringing together creatives from around the world. You’ll discover the transformation that the neighbourhood has undergone and hear stories of its wild past; it was here that Berlin’s alternative subculture thrived in the nineties and continues to thrive today.

Stop At: Berlin Wall Memorial, Bernauer Str. 111, 13355 Berlin, Germany
On your way to the final highlight of the tour, you will see where Martin Luther King held his famous speech in 1964 before finishing the tour with a mind-blowing, exclusive experience at the notorious Berlin Wall, where you will see how the Wall divided the city through virtual reality Headsets. Your guide will take you on a journey through the decades; starting from the building of the wall in the 1960s to its demolition almost thirty years later, told from both an East and a West perspective. This is a unique experience that is currently not being offered by any other tour company.

Hi, I highly recommend this personalised Berlin trip on foot. We were showcased an amazing insight of Berlin's history and a personal story shared by Mr.Peter. Mr.Peter has seen the history created and gave us an insight tour of Berlin in detail. He also shared his personal story and how he was a part of the various veterans living the life of East and West Berlin, before and after the fall of Berlin Wall. To our surprise we got a Virtual Reality (VR) based insight in which we could view the picturesque history from both the sides of the wall. VR Technology used right. Very Informative. Had a wonderful tour with Peter. Lots of interesting stories about the city and its history, and his own story is fascinating and a joy to hear. There was a coffee stop halfway, where we had the best Berliner that I've had in Berlin. Highly recommend this tour.
