This was such a great tour - very informative, sensitively approached with a twinge of humour. You get a real insight into life for the poor people of Belfast in particular during the 1970s onwards. Well worth the money

This trip was a highlight for us both. Paul is a true expert on Irish history and in particular of the 20th century conflict in Northern Ireland. He is articulate; a truly gifted storyteller and full of cheeky humour. I could almost see past events and the human impact unravelling before my eyes. Thank you Paul! Mel and Sarah, london

I would recommend this tour to anyone who is seeking a well informed, yet neutral, educational experience on the history of the troubles in Ireland. A big shout out to Steve who was a delight to listen to, and took great care in explaining complicated situations. DC tours is a great option for tourists like myself who had little prior knowledge of the conflict, as they made it feel safe to ask questions. Overall an excellent experience.

At the start of this month, I attended a DC walking tour led my Paul. It was a fascinating and moving experience - one which I have spoken to friends and family about since. I found Paul's precision and accuracy when relaying factual information very respectful to the victims of the troubles and equally thought provoking. His personal anecdotes and story telling skills were very engaging. I would highly recommend this tour! Thank you for teaching me about the history of Belfast.

Chris presented a very informative account of the troubles and brought it to life with stories and locations of the terrible events. He seemed unbiased and non judgmental of the awful history. Would highly recommend!! .

Steve did a very good job both at navigating an emotive subject and keeping us warm and dry on an adverse weather day. Would thoroughly recommend the Tour as a way of understanding more about the history and reality of the Troubles and the future direction of travel. A really good half day experience.

Just been on a 2 hour walking tour of the troubles from Steve who lived through it all. So illuminating, horribly sad and disturbing, yet it ended on such a positive note. It really is hard to fathom what happened here during the 70s and 80s. Steve was a wonderful guide and managed to balance the narrative of Northern Ireland’s tragic and horrendous history with wit and charm and message of hope. If you want to understand what Belfast went through before it became the brilliant welcoming city it is today, then this is an absolute must.

My partner and I took the History of Terror tour with James on a Sunday. It was terrific. James was engaging, informative and charming. I’ve studied Irish politics and still learnt lots as I didn’t know much about the impact on the city centre and James stressed the human impact. My partner, who knew very little, learnt about the history of the troubles in 2.5 hours. A hard job but done well. James grew up in Belfast and is a history buff, so has lived experience and the academic understanding, a powerful combination. He also shared pub recommendations, so best to do early on in your visit. Those expecting Batman or Superman will be disappointed, anyone else who wants to see and hear about the dark political history of this great city, won’t be. Highly recommended.

If you are a fan of history and the time known as the Troubles, this tour is perfect, well paced, not to fast but also not lingering too long at one particular location. The guide was very well informed and gave a very neutral POV of how it was live in Belfast during that very turbulent time period

Incredible experience with our very knowledgeable guide. He answered all of our questions, and took us to so many interesting places I would never have known about on my own. We even met someone who had known one of the people he was talking about, which made the stories feel even more real. Highly recommend!

I attended this tour with 3 friends on a recent day trip to Belfast. We had limited time in the city, and were looking for a tour that would provide a crash course in the history of Belfast while giving us the opportunity to get a lay of the land. Paul was an excellent guide - informative, engaging, and extremely passionate about the history of the city, it's people, and it's culture. His delivery was unbiased and concise, tackling some very polarizing issues and presenting the city's history in a way that was relatable to an outsider. In all, it was a very well run tour and I would highly recommend it!!

Steve is an excellent guide, very knowledgeable, and as promised, impartial and factual. Despite the rain, he managed to navigate us safely along the streets of Belfast and impart not only facts but the drama of the moment of attacks, bombs, and historical events in the places we visited. Recent history is extremely painful but finishes on a hopeful note covering the Good Friday agreement. We learned a lot, thanks!
