Truly enjoyed the experience. Our guide, Max, was knowledgeable and shared plenty of factual information about the Northern Lights. He was also considerate and took our individual pictures with his own camera and shared it with us. Truly a great time and worth the experience.

No bathroom facilities available for 6 plus hours because pick up place was in the open; several tour groups waiting so it was confusing. No flashlights for tourists to use from/to the van during night time conditions. Very dangerous to walk to the gathering place due to snow over rocky area where we finally settled. No way to get away from the elements other than go back to the van. I fell once (slipped on a rock) on the way to the meeting area. My husband fell 3 times on the way to the van for there was only one tour guide for 15 people and he was busy taking pictures. Tour guide offered to take and share pictures with us but link received was for reduced quality pictures. If higher resolution desired, one has to buy his pictures. Pictures also copyrighted. No mention of this when he offered to take pictures for us and share them or prior to taking the pictures of participants. Felt like a bait and switch technique after the fact. We did see the Northern Lights that evening. The van had issues with the passengers sliding door--several of us got trapped in the van until the driver came back about 15 minutes later. Prepared food not shared with passengers taking shelter in the van even though guide had stated they would bring it over. I had to use the "reindeer" toilet (outdoors; no porta-potty) and use my own tissue and sanitizer (none available).

We were fortunate with good weather and great guides so we experienced the Northern Lights in a beautiful setting. Hermann gave a good explanation of factors needed for sighting as Carolina drove us to a spot away from Tromso and predicted weather patterns that might make it more difficult to see the lights. After a bathroom break, we arrived at a beach where the lights almost immediately started. Hermann helped with camera setup and clothes boots. It was abit challenging for us older folks as the beach was rocky but seeing the lights in this setting was magical. After over an hour the lights stopped. A campfire was set up where we had cookies hot drinks and roasted sausages. We were returned to the dock at around 1am. The next day, we received the photos from Hermann There was a problem with ours which took 2 days to get corrected but it was fixed and sent to us. Excursion was 100% as described on website. Yes, a charge for guides professional photos but the pricing of the excursion for us was excellent value for the experience we received. Well taken care by friendly experienced guides. Highly recommend.

It was an amazing trip, with a very great guide who explained us a lot about the northern lights even in its physics aspects. And a bit about camp fire cooking. ;-) We had a lot of luck with really great lights!

Another excellent experience with Northern Horizon, and Bert this time. He managed to find the right spot, even though the night was quite cloudy over Tromso. We went to a remote valley, where we found clear skies. We had the change to watch wonderful auroras for several hours over our heads, including 2 additional stops on the way and back to Tromso. Bert’s pictures are amazing, and he was a great guide, made the group feel at ease around the fire, telling us a lot about auroras, and other stories. Very memorable moments. I fully recommend and hope to be back !

We took this tour on March 13. We had Max as our guide and Carolina aka ice road queen as our driver. Max is a geologist/ photographer and he was phenomenal. He was knowledgable, kind, witty and provided an excellent night. He gave us an in depth description of the northern lights and sami culture. The photos we have from him are amazing. We had reindeer sausages around the fire, and got back to our hotel at a very reasonable time. We had booked a tour with a different company for the following night but I wished Northern Horizon had availability because we would have absolutely cancelled the other company and gone with them instead. The first few photos in the review are shot with my iPhone 12. The rest were provided by Max and we can still choose to buy the high resolution images later which we will absolutely be doing.

Oh, man, this was an amazing experience. We had Harry and Andre as guide and driver. Both are professional, personable, and helpful. Harry is a wizard at finding open sky. I could see his phone's screen reflected in the windshield and while I didn't know what he was looking at could see he was looking at a lot of different apps, checking constantly out the windows, and making sure we won the Northern Lights chase that night. We saw some amazing displays b/c of Harry's diligence and the luck of the draw. I know what we saw was partially due to Harry's skill b/c some other people we spoke to the next day saw nothing on the same night. So, Harry guided us to a good spot for some awesome dancing and intense aurora. After our reindeer dogs wrapped in potato tortillas, hot cocoa, and cookies we started the 2.5 hour drive back to Tromsø. It was an fantastic night out, and I'd recommend this company to anyone. Absolutely top notch.

What an amazing night! We were lucky and the Northern lights put on a wonderful show, which was largely attributed to the expert knowledge of our guide who knew exactly where to go and also where would be away from other tours. Harry was our guide for our Aurora chase, he took lots of time to explain the science behind the Northern lights and told us some of the folk tales they have inspired. This made the trip so much more interesting. Having hot chocolate and snacks by the fire was also a lovely addition to an already awesome trip. We’ve also got some stunning professional photos taken by Harry that we will treasure forever. Thank you to Harry and Northern Horizon for an unforgettable night.

This was an amazing tour. Harry the tour guide was not only very knowledgeable about the auroras and how they happen and the science behind the phenonemon, but he was passionate, and engaging about finding them for our group. He had 6+ years of experience finding the lights and was quick to gather all the info he had at his disposal and got our group to a fantastic site. The lights were amazing. His excitement and enthusiam were beyond a 10 out of 10!!

Amazing amazing trip with Harry, he was such a great tour guide very skilled and has really interesting scientific facts and myths about the northern lights. We enjoyed every single moment and got to witness 2 dancing auroras on the same night ! Many thanks as well go to Carolina our tour driver for handling the rough roads at night and being so warm and welcoming throughout the whole journey. Of course my pictures are bad quality the pictures harry took were gorgeous.

This is a very special tour that exceeded all of our expectations. After 5 nights of endlessly searching for the northern lights amidst cloudy skies, we finally got to see them in all their glory thanks to our masterful and dedicated tour guides, Max and Wojtek. They went truly above and beyond on a cloudy night to find the perfect spot for us to view the light show, assessing the changing weather conditions and solar activity minute by minute, which made the entire drive an exciting chase. We went so deep into the wilderness we saw a moose cross the road, and stars so bright, they were flickering like flames. I had never seen anything like that before. As a local scientist and professional photographer, Max was not only able to educate us all about the northern lights and Norwegian landscape, but ensured we needn't bring out our phones the entire time, since he captured more stunning photos of us, the lights, and the whole experience better than we could have. Regardless, he dedicated significant time helping everyone who brought a camera to find the perfect settings to take great photos, too. While Max helped us capture photos, Wojtek kept us entertained around the fire with warm drinks, jokes, and stories about the local lore. This truly captured the feeling of Norwegian "koselig" – feeling cozy, connected, alive, and awe-inspired all at once. This was the antidote to the modern lifestyle we really needed, and something truly extraordinary that we'll never forget. Thank you Max, Wojtek, and everyone at Northern Horizon!

Our tour guide was fantastic, the fact he knew the science behind the lights and methods for finding multiple places to look was great. We didn't get the best showing, but I don't think there was anything more he could have done. Felt like I was in great hands.
