We had an amazing experience with Makis and Ilias today! We were so excited to go out fishing and had no idea we would learn so much about the history of Santorini! It was simply beautiful! And the food- my goodness! They cooked the fish we caught, made ceviche, tomato fritters, meatballs, and a wonderful Greek salad (Thank you Ilias 😜). The vegetables were from Makis’ home garden and his wife made the fritters and meatballs! So delicious!! Cannot thank you both enough for the amazing day on the water. This exceeded our expectations which were high to begin with! We took a trip to Athens, Mykonos, Santorini and Rome. This fishing/sight seeing excursion was the highlight of the whole trip. The captain was fantastic and his tour guide was hilarious. They both were super knowledgeable and shared many informative and hilarious stories. Also, the food they cooked was better than much of the restaurants we tried on Santorini. The captain even sent us the tomato fritter recipe so we could try and make it at home. 11/10 would recommend! Makis and Elias are the best. You could not ask for a better Captain than Makis and Elias was both very generous and accommodating. They truly evade sure we had the best experience possible. Although Mother Nature wasn’t in our favor, we had an amazing time. Elias explained the history of Santorini and Makis took us around some of the hard to see beautiful landmarks on the surrounding islands including the volcano. The weather made it tough to truly get the fishing experience but we made do and ended up catching a bunch of red grouper on the calm side of the volcano. We cooked up our fresh fish and Makis and Elias provided homemade Greek food which was spectacular. The fritters were great. Whether it was offering us countless drinks, blankets to keep us warm, or just small talk, they couldn’t have been more hospitable.
