On the 30th of December 2013, we booked very short-handed - three days before the departure - a classical tour through Istanbul and everything went perfectly well: The fast, flexible booking via rent-a-guide and on site, we had a tour guide who not only spoke really good German, but also had a lot of knowledge and who was able to convey it very entertainingly. We can only recommend Cengiz Altuntas - also, because he didn't care that our six hours time were already up and showed us the cistern nevertheless. A really great tour Cengiz, thank you!
Our guide Yildiz spoke excellent German (which is no surprise, since she lived in Germany for 20 years...), was at the desired time at the hotel and besides the tour itself, she was able to give us many further tips and information very competently. Moreover, her energy and her positive attitude to life were contagious and the whole day was very relaxed and, inspite of the full programme, not very exhausting. We (my wife and I) can only recommend such a private tour, especially, if you are in Istanbul for the first time and on the first day. As a tour guide, she bought the entrance tickets in advance so that we were able to skip the lines several times and saved about one hour of time – each time! That alone made the high, but decent price totally worth it (although, the tickets had to be paid on location additionally). With that, we were able to see all the important sights (Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Sultanahmet Mosque and the cisterns) in about 4-5 hours and got a really good impression. Normally, you would need about 2 days for all this. Afterwards, we ate in a really good restaurant (which we probably wouldn't have entered without our guide), walked up to the Galata Tower, did get several valueable tips for our further stay and she also organised the Istanbul Card for us which we needed for the metro. So, all in all it was a terrffic start for our 4-5days trip to Istanbul. I would do it exactly like that again. I also want to praise the responsible staff memers at rent-a-guide, who were able to organise a tour guide on such a short notice (5 days before the tour should start) which was not possible for other suppliers and who even did reply to my special wishes on December, 24 at 2pm.
Everything went perfectly - from the booking up to the tour! These are professionals who exactly met my expectations of a private city tour. We were a mixed group of seven men between the age of 35 and 65. Our guide Iris was well prepared and was also able to hide all the boring historical dates in interesting stories. She knows the place very well and it was a lot of fun to be guided through Istanbul by her. We surely will book via rent-a-guide again.
We were a huge group and were supervised very well. Before the tour took place, we had the chance to talk to the tour guide about what we wanted to see and what was realistic to actually see.
We had a great day with a competend and congenial tour guide. We would book this tour again. Thank you.
Our guide was 10 minutes late. Besides that, the tour was competent, individuall and aligned to our needs, with some humour and a lot of information. We were very satisfied.
Perfect. We would do that tour again!
Everything was just as asked for and therefore very good.
This tour should have lasted 6 hours, but we only did 4 hours. But the guide was very nice and we didn't want to fight.
We (a group of 4) had a very good guide who told us some interesting and funny stories about Istanbul. Great.
Great guide, no waiting time!
It can't be done any better. Even last-minute we could accelerate our booked time. Our guide was friendly and was able to answer all of our questions. The agreements of our wished were well implemented. We were very satisfied.
All our wishes were taken into account. There was always a well founded answer to each questions and the fun never went short. The guide is absolutely recommendable.
Very, very good, friendly, educated and open guide. First class!!! U
The guide was competent, kind and spoke a real good German. He could help with tips for what we should see and which restaurants are good.
Our nice guide did a very informative, entertaining and interesting tour through Istanbul. Anytime again!
The programme should be tailored beforehand. Detailled information would have been great. A bit too expensive.
That is how city tours are fun!
We had a very competent and charming guide.
We booked a private, six-hour walking tour through Istanbul and we were very thrilled about our guide Sirma. She was able to take our wishes into account and to design the time rich in variety. She speaks an excellent German and is very educated. Keep it up!
This private tour was really good. Cengiz is a guide with excellent knowledge of the German language and an enormous background knowledge, especially concerning historical facts. The tour was easy to manage - Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapo, Hippodrome and the Basilica Cistern are close by and can be reached by foot easily. At the beginning, Cengiz offered to change the tour according to our own interests, but we didn't find it neccessary. To get to know the sights in this way, was just the right way to start the first visit of Istanbul! Thank you!
Our guide was very dedicated and competent. She spoke an excellent German and showed us all the sights and explained a lot. She also gave us some helpful tips for our further stay, so that we were able to discover the city of our own.
For us 5 ladies from close to Munich, our guide Yildiz trumped with her Bavarian accent, because she lived at the Tegernsee for 20 years. She answered all our questions patiently, even those about the Turkish life. And she showed us the most important sights. It was a pleasure! Anytime again!!!
Again, a huge thank you to Yildiz! An unforgettable day with a lot of tips for our further stay :)
We booked a guide for Istanbul for the 20th and 21st of October and with Cengiz Altuntas we did get a great guide, a true fluke! Cengiz was very flexible. On the 20th at 3pm, he picked us up from the harbour. In his very calm way, he gave us (4 grown-ups and 4 kids) an understanding of the city and its sights. The information he gave us about the sights, the cultural backgrounds and the curren situation in Istanbul were just great. Our children (10, 13, 14 and 17 years) were absolutely thrilled. On Monday, Cengiz picked us up again from the harbour. Besides the sights, he also showed us Istanbul off the beaten track. His tips were great. We would book Cengiz again and highly recommend him.
A very competent tour. We had a lot of fun.
Very nice and competent. I would book a tour again immediately.
Everything went perfectly, just as we booked it.
Mr Bora was very kind and provided us with a great overview over Istanbul. Thanks again to Mr Bora.
