TL,DR: For $410, the package is an reasonable way to see lower Egypt. There is a lot of downtime, and the ideal demographic appears to be 40+.
NB: There is a lot of downtime on this tour. The majority of the day is unstructured. The excursions/tours last for 2-3 hours/day. There isn't much to do in the boat. If you're looking for a slow-paced way to see lower Egypt then this cruise is for you.
Guide: Our guide Amr was fantastic. He quickly and efficiently showed us around each site. He warned us about potential tourist scams along the way. He gave ample time at each site for pictures. Amr even helped us change our room on the ship to be higher up in the boat. He was readily available whenever we had questions. He customized the tour per our requests.
Ship: Sufficiently clean with staff always around if anything was needed. The boat was very cold, and there is no heat. Be sure to pack cold weather clothing. We were here in February with temps around 60-70F, and were still cold at night. Blankets were sufficiently warm.
Food: The food on the boat varied each night. There was always more than enough for each meal. Do note that beverages (even water) are not included and will cost extra. Wine is around $5/glass, coffee $2, and water $1. It would behoove the cruise to include at least one beverage with each meal.
We also want to extend our sincerest appreciation to the kitchen staff. We have severe tree nut and peanut allergies. The staff were extremely cautious at every meal and even went so far as to prepare special side dishes for us that did not include nuts.
Overall, this was probably the easiest way to see lower Egypt. However, do note that the demographic is probably best suited for those looking for a slow pace.
The highlight our trip to Egypt was the truly excellent, professional and first-class service we received from our guide (and now, friend) Mustafa. Mustafa is a true expert on ancient Egyptian history and culture. He also was a fantastic person to navigate us around the hectic cities and sites along the Nile. I cannot imagine our trip without Mustafa. He was everything--and more--that we hoped our guide would be for this once in a lifetime trip. THANK YOU, Mustafa. Looking forward to seeing you again one day--either back in Egypt or in the USA! Best wishes, N and E
Where should I start from, this tour was absolutely the BEST! The tour company Imperial Egypt is very professional and the cruise ship itself - MS Nile Star - was such an experience! And of course the trip wouldn't have been enjoyable if it wasn't for our tour guide Moataz who was super friendly, gave excellent tips, and always took us to the hidden gems places away from the crowd of tourists - and may I add he's an excellent photographer :) !
We started off in Aswan visiting the high dam, took a motor boat trip to a Nubian village, and went the next day to Abu Simbel temple which was gorgeous (heads up - it's a 3 hour trip by car and it starts very early morning but it's worth it). We then sailed to Kom Ombo followed by Edfu, and then our last destination was Luxor. I can keep going on and on about how gorgeous the temples are!
On the cruise ship, we had a day of relaxation on the sun deck while it was sailing on one of the days and it was very nice streaming by the lovely views of the Nile banks. It also happened to be my birthday and so the crew on one of the nights surprised me at dinner and sang happy birthday the Egyptian way and brought a cake (it was very sweet of them). They had a Gallabia night whereby the crew dressed up in local traditional outfits and played Arabic music, it was a fun night full of dancing, and another night was a belly dancer night.
In brief, it's a wonderful experience, not to be missed!
A great overall experience. Ship was a bit dated in terms of decor but sparkling clean with staff willing to go the extra mile in service. Rooms were apace of cost of cruise. Beds were comfortable. Meals were varied and tasty. Well presented. On/off boarding was efficient and hassle free. There were just two of us so private guide offered. Our guide - Mustafa - Was amazing. Incredibly knowledgeable. Made complicated history and sites more like a story. Couldn’t have been happier with him. Important note in terms of budget. Remember that everyone who supports your cruise experience exists on the tips provided. Do your research in advance and ensure you have some cash set aside for tipping. We did not find that we were ever asked or pressured for tips. But be mindful of how important these are to the folks who will do their absolute best to give great service. Again, know that you are not doing (not paying for) a 5-star cruise experience by North American standards. But great value for money and awesome sites/sights to experience.
My 8 year-old daughter and I just returned to the States after an unbelievable trip to Egypt! Mostafa Molattam was our guide while on the cruise, and he was amazing. He is wonderfully knowledgeable, and such a kind and warm person. We saw so much, and were safe the entire time! I wholeheartedly recommend this cruise, and if you’re lucky, you’ll get Mostafa as your guide. Thank you, Mostafa, for a wonderful experience. Bree and I will remember you always!
Cruise was great. Clean and safe. Staff is extremely friendly. The food was good and is planned well throughout the day. Staff picked us up from the airport and our day stared almost immediately since we arrived well before check in time. There is a little down time each day too so be sure to bring a bathing suit if you wish to lay in the sun or go in the pool (pool is small but barely anyone went in). Evening shows are lacking a little but still worth attending. Minimal shopping on board but there were 2 small shops, a masseuse, photographer and videographer to offer “extras” on the boat. My husband and I had a truly wonderful time.
The safest I was in Egypt was on the cruise and with my guide Mido Mosa with Imperial Egypt Tours. The ship was clean, the food fantastic and the staff lovely. Very professional.
This tour experience was the highlight of our trip to Egypt. The tour coordinator Hany did an excellent job coordinating the details in advance, including a trip to Abu Simbel from Aswan, and a hot air balloon ride over Luxor. When we were picked up in Aswan, it was a seamless trip, with no stress and lots of great experiences. Our guide Ahmed deserves and extra star with his knowledge and how well he took care of us, making sure we saw what we wanted to see and that we had a great time. I would highly recommend this tour as a great way to see the sights along the Nile, with great service and a well coordinated experience.
Our trip with name of company was really enjoyable. The room on the cruise was large and comfortable. The food on the ship was some of the best we had in Egypt and a good source of reasonable salads, which is one thing we found lacking in the local cuisine. The prices of the drinks in comparison with Cairo were completely reasonable. The pool was also a nice touch. The evening entertainment was a bit cliche for our taste, but many of the other guests really enjoyed it. The best part, however, were the tours at least if you're interested in seeing old temples. Our tour guide Mido was extremely knowledgeable and was good at telling myths and stories. Also, all of the groups were fairly small, so it was easy to interact and ask questions and being involved in the tour helps to avoid the baksheesh culture to some extent. All in all a wonderful experience, definitely worth doing if you're in Egypt. As we were there, before and after the cruise, many of the locals said taking the Nile cruise is the one must do in Egypt and they were right.
Great 4 day culture tour. From seeing sights in Aswan such as the Philae temple to The Valley of the kings in Luxor, we were able to experience a large amount of historic sights, all with the expertise and knowledge of our tour guide, Ahmed. Ahmed gave us insight into what we were seeing at the temples, which proved to be essential, as we would not have been able to learn all the history we did without a guide. The tour was relaxing and the staff was attentive to our needs. The local guide manager, Hany, upgraded our room to a suite at no extra cost and arranged all last minute travel arrangements, such as our optional trip to Abu Simbel. He even opted to arrange travel plans for our next leg of the trip to Hurghada. Hany went above and beyond our expectations to provide a relaxing and enjoyable trip down the Nile. I highly recommend Ahmed as our guide and ImperialEgypt for coordinating this trip.
The cruise boat has five star facilities and very good food and courteous staff. Imperial Egypt guide Mido is the best. He has perfect command on English and he knows Egypt history in and out - he is very passionate about the same while explaining it. He is amazing photographer too :) he makes Aswan to Luxor cruise experience truly memorable . Will visit again for sure !!
Just finished our Nile Cruise. Every thing was great. So glad we picked this cruise deal.. Cruise arrangements and tours handled by Imperial Egypt. Responded quickly to any inquires. They booked us on M/S Moondance. Ship was very nice. Crew great always friendly and smiling. Chef made 5 course meals just for my wife and I. Ship had a group of 20 from India and they had buffets with Indian food so they made 5 course dinners just for us.
Our guide Mido was great. Very knowledgeable, spoke very good english and a pleasure to be around. Always wanted to know what we wanted to do and willing to modify anything we wanted to change. We did an optional trip to Nubian village and also did a hot air balloon ride. Both very nice.
I can not imagine anyone could do a better job for us.
On December 13 - 16, 2017, me and my son had a 4-Day 3-Night Cruise from Aswan to Luxor. This review is only about our guide. And we give 5 Stars to him, only. Not to the Cruise itself. Our ship - Lady Carol - was old, not equipped for the modern traveler. It had a small TV which did not show anything, no Wi-Fi, no Internet. No promised evening entertainment. Food was for native passengers mostly. All desserts were heavy on sugar and butter. Altogether food was passable, not especially tasty. Sups tasted as the same one with different names. We had tea, coffee or water only for breakfast. On lunch and dinner, we should pay for every liquid food, they considered being drinks, meaning not covered. Why is water not a drink in the morning? Mystery. Another negative memory - restaurant working time was not correlated with excursion time. We were forced to take food quickly due to closing the restaurant. We could give only 1 Star to cruise company not organized it up to the promised level.
Our guide was Mido Mosa. We had a great time with him. Mido is a very knowledgeable person and at the same time very polite, understanding, not pushing us to go to places which we did not have a desire to see. We wanted to see Monument to Russian- Egyptian Friendship near the Great Dam, and he drove us there. Next day we wanted to go to Nubian museum and see Unfinished Obelisk and he organized the tour. All this is an extra activity but he followed our interests, never mentioned that it's not in the program of Cruise. He patiently waited when I played my bargain part in a small tourist market.
All other places we saw with him on other days of the cruise were shown with great expertise. We remember how Mido explained ancient Egyptian calendar to us. It was extra learning, I noticed that other guides did not do it. We learn much more with him then we expected. On other side , he noticed that we like to be alone, too, and do pictures as much as we could. He always gave us time for our own interests.
Mido worked as a perfect private guide accommodated different people with respect. He is a sample how a private guide should behave working with people from different countries, different ages, and attitudes. Bravo, Mido! And thank you!

This tour package was run by Mr. Hany of Imperial Egypt Tours. We were on a cruise boat called the Royal Ruby. From the start, Mr. Hany communicated quickly by email and phone, and was able to accommodate a last minute addition to our group. We had a large group of 11 passengers and he booked nearly an entire floor, making special arrangements of fruit platters for the rooms in honor of my mother-in-law's 75th birthday. The tour was perfect for our needs. All important sites were covered at a leisurely pace and room and board on the ship made travel extremely convenient. We felt secure during all parts of travel. The best part of booking this tour was that our guide, Mido, was exceptional! He always had a smile and was extremely knowledgeable about the history of all the sites. His passion for his work was obvious. He was extremely flexible. One day he traded a tour of a Nubian village to allow the kids to go sand surfing followed by swimming in the Nile in a clean location. In addition, he gave us pointers about how to bargain at the markets and kept our group of half teenagers/young adults entertained throughout. Apparently the Nile River level is quite shallow this time of year and we were not the only ship to get stuck. Mido was able to rearrange our itinerary so that we did not miss anything. Mido went above and beyond expectations. He helped to arrange a surprise birthday cake for our celebration and stayed with us in Luxor until late in the evening of the last day. I highly recommend booking this particular tour. It's a great value and Egypt felt quite safe.
You are missing out if you don't do this tour, especially for the price. The price is so good, you don't have an excuse. We were taken care of and pampered from the minute we booked. Seriously Hany from Imperial Egypt messaged me on WhatsApp right away, to help hammer out details for the trip. THEN we had a private guide, Which I highly suggest by the way. Our guides name was Hady, and he was incredibly charismatic and proud of his culture, and the history of Egypt. He called us every night to see if we needed anything, and was always concerned about whether we were having a good time. He took us to a pharmacy when my boyfriend got a stomach ache, and recommended medicine to help him feel better. Every day was full of sightseeing and learning adventures, but we also had the perfect amount of relaxing on the boat next to the pool, while we lazily floated down the Nile. We were in Egypt for 2 weeks, and this was by far the highlight of our trip, the only bad thing is that I wish we had booked a longer cruise. We will be returning to Egypt, and be doing this cruise again. And booking all our tours through Imperial Egypt. We also will make sure to always request HADY when we are there, and you should too. Thanks for making our vacation so memorable Hany and Hady-Jamie and Jake from Alaska
Had an amazing time, on the Nile Cruise. We were on the Alhambra Boat which was amazing. The crew was helpful and our Tour Guide Mido was great. Food was great and was plentiful. During our time on the cruise we felt safe and had secuirty personal guarding the ship, on the streets, Tourism police was patrolling the streets. The temples and sites visited were absolutely stunning! As an experienced traveller, i felt a bi too sheltered and outside the first day didnt have much of an opportunity to explore the streets. My biggest criticism is that we didnt have a set agenda for the entire trip, but rather it was a daily plan handed over at dinner for the next day and was treated as guideline. But overall, Im very pleased with the cruise and would highly recommend to everyone.
An amazing experience. Hady, the guide was very knowledgeable and professional. He also coordinated for the facilities on board. The food on board is sumptuous and delicious. Cabins are very nice and comfortable.
We loved this cruise. Our guide Mido picked us up at our hotel and stayed with us the entirety of the cruise giving us excellent information about the temples, ruins, museums and other sights we were visiting. He was very aware of our needs and accommodated us throughout the trip. He couldnt do enough for us. The boat, the Alexander the Great was very well run. The food and charming service was excellent and with only thirty cabins on board very personalized. Sailing along the Nile from Aswan to Luxor, enjoying the relaxed afternoons and fun evening entertainment a costume party, belly dancer and whirling dervish accompanied by a wonderful Egyptian band we had a great time. We would highly recommend this tour with this guide.
This was one of the best tours we have ever done. Our guide Hady was absolutely phenomenal. He was well organized, well based in his knowledge of Egypt and the history of the area. He really took care of us and shared his immense knowledge readily, making the trip all the better.
Food and accommodations were excellent and really had a great time cruising the Nile.
I had a great time on my cruise. Amr, my guide was very proud and knowledgeable about his county. I would be happy to return to Egypt anytime, but would definitely spend more days because there's so much to see. Any safety concerns that people have about traveling to this county should be put to rest. Egyptians are warm and beautiful, and it's sad to see that a few fringe radicals and events have so deeply affected travel decisions to come and see all that this country has to offer.
Excellent tour. My friend amd I really enjoyed ourselves. The accommodation was very comfortable. Food was decent. The visits to the sights were fantastic.
Where to start! We saw the most amazing temple. We had the most fabulous guide Abdul. I never saw or heard someone give such accurate information and not just one Temple all of them. He was so knowledgeable on this history of Egypt and he explained with such passion that you get transported in time. The boat was very clean, the staff was the best every meal they made sure that our son was eating and they always found time so come and have a few words with him. Thank you to Andrew our waiter he was exceptional
We did a 3 night 4 day Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor with Imperial Egypt. Our tour guides name was Mohammed and he was spectacular! The moment we booked our trip, we received a WhatsApp message from the owner Hany and informed us of what information he still needed and if we would like anything added to the trip. We asked some questions before arriving in Egypt and Hany was always responded and a timely manner. Their customer service was amazing! We added on a day trip before the cruise to go see Abu Simbel and it was an early morning, and he was on time and made sure we had everything we needed for the journey. Mohammed's English was clear and very easy to understand and he was always so excited to tell us about each location's history. Each location we were given a history of the site and small tour, then time on our own to explore and take photos, both of which were always the right amount of time. We couldn't have asked for a better trip and tour, this company really takes care of their client and is very informative.
This was a fantastic trip. It was very well organised and we had a very knowledgeable tour guide. If there is anything not so good then we should have booked a longer trip. There are so many things to see and discover that four days are not enough. So we will come back for everything that we missed out on this trip.
My husband and I visited Egypt last month for nine days. With little planning time in hand, we booked our 4 days/3 nights Nile Cruise from Aswan to Luxor through Viator. Within few hours of our booking, we received a prompt email from Hany Ahmad who manages the office of Imperial Egypt Tour Company in Luxor. Hany had been extremely cooperative and friendly all along. We corresponded back and forth via multiple emails and I realized that he is truly keen on helping us with his utmost sincerity and insightful suggestions from the very start of our correspondence. While mapping out our overall plan, we decided to add sites seeings in and around Cairo as well as Alexandria to our itinerary. Although this could have been done independently of the cruise, we decided to work with Hany and Imperial Egypt because we truly felt the connection and knew that Hany will do a fantastic job. Hany and his Cairo associate Mustafa arranged a 3 day tour of Cairo and Alexandria which included site seeings of major landmarks and lunches at authentic Egyptian restaurants. Upon arrival, Mustafa picked us up at the Cairo International Airport and dropped off at the hotel. It was already quite late in the evening, but Mustafa was kind enough to make stops at an ATM and helped us purchasing an Egyptian SIM card upon our request. Both drivers Waleed and Talat were sweet and friendly. Hisham, our tour guide was well informed and passionate about Egypts 7000 years of magnificent civilization. We had a fun filled travel time with all of them.
The cruise tour included major site seeings of both Pharaonic and Greco-Roman architectural monuments along the East and West bank of the mighty Nile. Moreover, Hany made sure that we get time for relaxation in between our site seeings and enjoy the comfort of the smooth sailing as well. He arranged our stay in MS Medea, a well furbished cruise with excellent food and customer service. Hany called every evening making sure that we are okay and everything is going per schedule. The tour guides provided by Imperial Egypt were knowledgeable and helpful. Our tour guide Mohammed had thorough understanding of Egyptian history and was enthusiastic in responding to many of my fascinating queries : - . He helped us with translation during purchases as well. Mohammed provided with updates each night at dinner for the next days program. On the last day of our cruise before returning to Cairo, we had another guide also named Mohammed for half a day. He was very kind and cooperative. The drivers were excellent and helped us with our luggages as well.
Hany Ahmad is an amazing individual. Loyalty, hospitality, professionalism, and integrity- Imperial Egypt portrays it all! Thank you Viator for your service and setting us with Hany and his staff.
The food was safe but just OK. Our guide Mohammed was the best he knew all the ins and outs took us to the best places explained everything very thoroughly I would highly recommend Mohammed. He is a fine individual very conscientious extremely knowledgeable.
This tour was the best!!! We were celebrating our Honeymoon and the staff made it so special. The security was kind but vigilant. I accidentally left my money in the safe and they made sure I was notified without a penny missing. I will be back!!!!!
Booked this tour online and received a prompt response from the local operator, Hany, who also booked us a private car to Abu Simbel with an excellent tour guide. We had a guide for the two of us on board the new boat MS Ajwan which was very comfortable. The guide Mohamed was excellent and explained all the stories at Edfu, Komombo, Philae and Luxor temples. At every stop there was a new private car or horse carriage ride. Every child 11 years old should visit Egypt with their parents. There is so much to learn and the guides speak excellent English and are very professional. My cell phone slipped out of my pocket at Queen Hatshepsut Temple and I did not realize until we were off the site. Mohamed the guide promptly phoned the police who had it and he went with the driver and picked it up. I was extremely happy. After each trip Hany kept in touch by Whatsapp for our comments and even called me to ask if we were satisfied with the service. This Nile cruise with Hany's organization is a must to do, in Egypt. Please visit Egypt, ignore the media, as I was all over the country and did not have see problems. People are friendly and smiling, love tourists and do not hassle them.
To start with:
As a single female traveler, I would like to thank Hany and my tour guide Mansour for all the respect and care they offered.
It was a very well organized trip from Aswan to Luxor. The relaxed journey included 3 nights on a cruise ship and covered all the must-see sights along the river Nile.
Mansour definitely raised the bar for my expectation of a tour guide. His knowledge of the Ancient Egypt was to be admired. As we all know, an ordinary tour guide would just follow the routine, take tourists from temple to temple and introduce the god and goddess one by one.
Every visit with Mansour, I wish I could have done my homework better because it was like a lecture of the history. He briefed the background story before the visit highlighted all the key points during the visit gave me some time alone to reflect. Last but not the least, the Q and A session on the way back was always my favorite, Mansour answered my every question with patience and profession.
Highly recommended to travelers who are looking for an in-depth and personalized trip to Egypt.
Loved it. Loved my gigantic room on the boat. We traveled with a sweet, personal guide and we just sat back and relaxed, savoring the experience, knowing everything was taken care of. We had some hiccups with flight changes and last minute change of plans, Hany was never fazed and up to the task. Go
