We had such a great experience during this trip and it absolutely lived up to the expectations set by the listing. Younas was a great driver who made the long drives as short as possible without ever feeling unsafe. We were picked up directly from our Riad in the Medina which Younas arranged with the staff from the Riad so all went smoothly. He is directly contactable via WhatsApp which was great. We set off from Marrakech at 8am and drove over the high atlas mountains with a couple of stops. It took about 2 hours to get from our Riad to the highest point of the mountains and we stopped at a cafe for toilets/snacks/taking pictures. Our next stop from there was Ourzazate which was a further 2h30min. This is where a lot of movies have been filmed but this time we didn't stop except to get refreshments. From here we went to Zagora (2h30min again) where we had lunch at a beautiful little spot. It was around 3pm when we had lunch here. The food was very good and Younas checked what food we would like to have before so they could prepare it. We were here for about 90 mins so it felt like a good rest after a long drive. This is the last big city before the desert and it's about another 1h30 to the camp. The last 15 minutes of this leg is off road in the desert which was exciting and the car was well equipped to handle it comfortably. We stopped at a random point near the dunes and were met by a Berber man and some camels. We were able to ride the camels through the dunes during sunset which was absolutely stunningly beautiful and a real highlight of the trip. The dunes were amazing and we were able to stop and climb to the top of the highest one for sunset. It was a little windy which meant sand was blowing everywhere so sunglasses and headscarves are advisable! From here we got a camel ride to camp for the night. We were welcomed with mint tea and some pastries which was nice and then later had a traditional chicken tagine dinner which was very good quality. After dinner we sat round the fire pit and had some traditional music played for us then set off some lanterns. At one point they turned off all the lights in camp so we could see the night sky fully which was magical. We stayed in the standard tent which had 4 single beds, and while they weren't the most comfortable it was fine for one night. The toilet block was pretty good with private western style toilets and sinks and showers. All round the amenities were good for a one night stay in the desert and I'm sure the luxury options were even better. The next morning we got up and climbed the dunes for sunrise. This isn't guided and was optional but very much worth it. We then had a nice breakfast of pastries, eggs, bread and juice/tea/coffee. There was even some "pizza Berber"! After this we were given some snowboards and told we could go and try sandboarding in the dunes which was quite funny. We had a lot of flexibility as to when we wanted to leave and Younas was very accommodating. We left around 9am and headed back the road we came down the previous day. We had a short stop in Zagora before making our way to Ourzazate. Here we had the options to go to one of the studio tours which we decided against, in favour of more time at other stops. We did have a quick look around though and seemed interesting enough. Next we went to Ait Benhaddou - this was a very interesting stop where we walked through the town and climbed to the very top for great panoramic views. There are lots of places to shop and buy souvenirs here but they aren't too pushy. We spent an hour or more here and then went on to Telouet. We didn't stop long here as we wanted to see the mountains in daylight but it looked beautiful also. From here it was the same journey as the previous day but in reverse. It was a lot of driving but we saw so much across the two days. Younas was very accommodating and allowed plenty of stops for pictures and toilet breaks. The food was all very good and included in the price we paid which was nice as we didn't have to think about it. Overall I would really recommend this tour as it is very good value for what you get to see and the places you get to go. I would emphasise that it is a very long drive (7h30m if non stop from Marrakech), but I think it's worth it for the dunes alone, nevermind the other great stops. If you have more time then a 3 day/2 night option would be a more leisurely way to do this trip which Younas also does but we just didn't have the time.I waited 90 minutes and driver never showed up. I waited 90 minutes and driver never showed up. Have not received full refund from Art de Cuivre travel or Viator (after 36 hours of no-show. Have sent several messages and no full reimbursement). This company is a scam. Karim will not take care of you. Do NOT book with this company. I have visited more than 45 countries and lived in developing countries for 8 years - customer service expectations are not high. Karim is not a legit tour operator.A few things to consider before you take this trip: 1) ~16 Hours in a car over two days. A few things to consider before you take this trip: 1) ~16 Hours in a car over two days. Make sure you pre-plan some personal entertainment by downloading movies, books, podcasts, etc... 2) Go to Atlas Movie Studios if you love pop culture. A lot of movies/television were filmed here (Gladiator, The Mummy, Game of Thrones) 3) Buy beer or wine beforehand to enjoy at the Desert Camp. You can ask your driver to stop at a place along the way. 4) Tip your Camel Guide after the first ride through the desert. They will help make your experience in the camp more pleasurable by providing you the best tents as well as provide a more private experience for watching the sunrise the next morning. 5) Be prepared at the Ait Ben Haddou to be forced to use a "Travel Guide". This was our most disappointing part of the trip. No where in the description was it clear that a guide was required for the experience. Our driver was trying to help negotiate, but at the same time you couldn't but help but feel they weren't on your side. Really the only time in Morocco we felt a little taken advantage of. We ended up negotiating pretty hard and our guide was so mad he didn't say anything as we walked through the location. 6) Download and check We Chat. The day before our trip, received an email saying our driver would arrive between 7:20 and 7:40. Went to bed early and woke-up early to be outside at 7:20, to only later find out that I received a text through We Chat that our driver was not planning to arrive until 8:00. Because of some confusion on our location, ended up not getting on the road until 8:20. Not the end of the world, but definitely frustrating to wake up so early and ultimately wait around for an hour.Excellent experience from start to end. Excellent experience from start to end. We started our journey in a comfortable minivan, small group of 3 which made it even better. We were not rushed and given plenty of photos opportunities, many stops throughout the drive (including toilet break which is important for the long drive) and weren’t coerced into buying anything, unlike some tours where you’re stopped at touristy spots. Abdou was a great driver and guide for our trip though the Atlas Mountains to the Berber camp. Firstly, he was a very safe and patient driver, a must for riding through many narrow mountain roads. He also kept us relaxed by sharing soothing Moroccan and African music tracks. He took care to make a lot of stops to show us the best overlooks. He steered us to a nice lunch spot and had many local contacts who gave mini tours of mountain villages (some extra tips required). Above all he was friendly and patient and happy to answer questions and explain local phenomena and sights. The Berber camping experience started with a 30 minute dromedary ride to the camp during a beautiful sunset, and then a tea service with our caravan guide Lahsan. He was very charming as were the other camp guides who played drum music by the fire until 10pm. Dinner wasn’t fancy, but filling—barley soup, bread, well spiced chicken and potatoes. For this city dweller, the clear starry night was incredible to see (with the Milky Way clearly visible) and the sunrise was well worth the trip. The only caution is that the shower facilities in the camp are poor (weak and cold water) and the beds are a bit uncomfortable, especially for people over 6 feet tall. Overall, we had a marvelous time and highly recommended. Our absolutely fabulous driver, Abdul, picked us at a spot right near our riad and drove us through the Atlas Mountains to the camels and camp. Our absolutely fabulous driver, Abdul, picked us at a spot right near our riad and drove us through the Atlas Mountains to the camels and camp. Abdul was so kind, funny and knowledgeable. He was flexible but efficient and took us to a number of fabulous look outside and rest spots for coffee and lunch. He seemed to know everything and everyone, and we adored him. The drive was long but so enjoyable, because of the beautiful, diverse Moroccan countryside. We arrived at our camels on time and had a beautiful sunset ride to the camp, guided by Abrahim, who was also fabulous. The camp was lovely and comfortable, dinner delicious, campfire and singing delightful and we capped off a good nights sleep with a climb to the top of the dunes for sunrise. And then the journey back with our friend, Abdul. This trip was perfection, highly recommend!!!The experience itself was what we had in mind from the previous reviews. The experience itself was what we had in mind from the previous reviews. The drive is long but that's ok because you make new friends (other people who come with you on this PRIVATE tour) and the views are incredible. Our driver was super friendly but hardly spoke English. When I am on a tour I like to ask questions, but I got frustrated with language barriers and just kept the questions for later (google). Desert part is great, we saw the sunset while riding the camels (got there late). Most stops you make will cost you extra. Movie Studios was very very bad wish they had another activity besides that one.
