April is finally here – a time when we look forward to festival lineup releases and outdoor events! With a steady reopening of California post-covid, it is difficult to know exactly which festivals are still on schedule or not. Here is all you need to know about the upcoming events in California for the month of April and later in the year!
San Francisco’s International Film Festival is an extraordinary cinematic experience held in the bay area. This famous festival features over 200 films from 50 different countries. And yes, it’s still on! This year will be a hybrid in-person and online event.
Kicking off April 9th through April 18th, this new hybrid-format will have live streamings and performances at the Fort Mason Flix drive-in theatre. Digital screenings and online networking for audiences and filmmakers. Get your tickets!
Music festival go-ers are definitely bummed about the cancellation of Coachella and soon to be announced, Stagecoach. Coachella has moved from October of 2021 to April of 2022. Stagecoach will most likely have a postponed date soon, as it usually follows the week after.
However, San Francisco’s Outside Lands is taking place on Halloween weekend from October 28th- October 31st at Golden Gate Park!
With a special Halloween edition of the festival, you will be able to experience the bay area’s culture ranging from local food, music, drinks and artwork.
For example, the festival is featuring various bay area restaurants, sculptures, painters, local wineries, and breweries throughout the spooky weekend.
More artists will be added to the lineup.
Food & Wine Festivals
Unfortunately, the Battle of the Brews at Sonoma County fairgrounds was also postponed until further notice. Their website states they are speaking with health officials and vendors to coordinate a reschedule.
However, if you’re still looking to explore Sonoma county and enjoy some drinks, here are some alternative activities.
And don’t lose all hope this year – The California Wine Festival is still happening, just later in the year. You can enjoy hundreds of California’s wines, lively music and gourmet foods in four different locations:
- Dana Point – August 27-28, 2021
- Santa Barbara – September 24-25, 2021
- Huntington Beach – November 5-6, 2021
- Carlsbad – May 20-21, 2022
